gilche on count of bravil

the green arrow is pointing at left but hes not there

It seems that is where he dies or it's where you killed him. The objective arrow will point to there the NPC died. It looks like the quest you are currently on is in-completable--Corevette789 03:56, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Oblivion Problems

(Moved from archive page.)

I've tried getting into the Kvatch Oblivion gate (On Xbox 360), and every time I do so, a box comes up saying my disc may be scratched- I only got it today. Help, anyone?? I tried getting into the Bruma Gate later in the game (on a different account) and the same thing happened.

It sounds like... Your disc might be scratched. If it isn't please transcribe exactly what the message says.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 20:39, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

i'm having a problem out of the expansion for this game. it says it is downloaded and all and i do not have xbl. when i start my game up it says adding new content but when i start playing the game nothing shows up i can't play either of the quests i have waited and rested for like 3 days and still nothing . can anyone help? — Unsigned comment by 69.179.122.36 (talk) on 2 October 2010

I know you have to have gone far a certain part in the tutorial for exapnsions to activate (and I'm assuming that you are still in the sewers). If you are just starting a new character, you will have to have gone past the sewers part of the prison (after Baurus gives you the key). You should then get a journey entry about your plug-in (if you're talking about Shivering Ilses, get out of prison and wait a day). Hope this helps. -- Jplatinum16 22:05, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
If you're talking about KOTN just head to Anvil. If it's installed then you should see the Prophet over to your left along the street, in front of the Chapel of Dibella.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 17:53, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Duplication Glitch & Damaged Items

I've noticed a few times that it was impossible to duplicate certain armors. Eventually, however, I remembered that they were damaged. So I had them repaired, and after that I was able to duplicate them. So, apparently, the scroll duplication glitch does not work on damaged items. --Falcata 14:30, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Hmm. I noticed that too. Of course I can't quite confirm it because the thing I tried it with (Cuirass of Battle) glitched and became completely non-physics - no collision it floated everything.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 20:18, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Game Freezing

My game seems to be constantly freezing, especially when i'm using the town gates. I'm having to save almost every minute, which is getting slightly annoying now. Any fixes? 213.107.186.105 11:22, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Oblivion isn't very stable, and it seems more likely to crash when switching zones then at any other time. If you're running any mods, then they're very likely you're problem. But you might consider adding WeOCPS to your load list - it won't make the game crash-free, but it'll help. -  Bomb Bloke (Talk/Contribs) 20:58, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
I have very similar problem. I load up but just as the screen loads it just dims. The music plays, and I can even get the menu, but only the sound it makes when opening. When it dims, you can hear random glasses clinking, that sorta thing but can see nothing but load screen. When it prompts me as I click the XB dashboard button on the pull up thing, it shows multiple identICal ones around the screen, as well as a big yellow "!" like on a normal one yet much bigger.I see no fix at all and I am PO'd. Wait.... This was my OTHER unknown flitch! Sorry. The actual glitch that resembles yours is another one but I think I'm in the wrong bug section. The guy I'm looking for is further down I think........but thank you for posting a similar problem. LukaSlayer is my name. Im new to this signature thing:( i'll try this: (LukaSlayer13 20:36, 23 March 2011 (UTC))

Dropped Items/Weapons Disappearing

Often, I get into a quest that involves me killing a lot of enemies, especially people with lots of equipment, more than I can carry even at 100 strength. So, usually, I leave their dropped weapons in a prominent and easy to find place so that I can go back and get them later, after dropping the stuff I could carry off at my house.

However, when I come back, I find that the items left contained on a corpse are still there, but those left on the ground are usually just plain gone. One time, I found all the items I had left on the ground recently neatly stacked together right in front of the entrance to a nearby cave that I had never entered! I wonder if my lost items are being relocated to some place I cannot find. By the way, I have never ever seen a "loot bag." I am playing on the Playstation 3, so maybe it uses a different system to deal with dropped items? Can anyone confirm similar experiences or solutions?

Falling through the floor in the first dungeon?

I was going through the first dungeon, in the sewer section, when I alerted a goblin and a rat in the very first part, when you see the bridge in front of you. I ran over to the right wall, and killed the goblin, who fell into the water, and then killed the rat. I jumped down into the water to loot the corpse, and I was directly above the goblin and hit him in the middle. I fell through the floor and under the whole cell, and I was swimming. I could swim in any direction (Except up) without falling and I could not get back in. I'm sure if I had swam far enough to either side, I could have gotten back in (but I just reloaded a save)

I don't know if this has anything to do with the goblin, but I have found the whole dungeon to be very glitchy with falling through the floor, jumping through the wall, etc. (According to myself, friends, and many videos.)

This was on the Xbox 360, and the disc wasn't scratched at all, and I hadn't been playing for more than an hour. I did recreate it with another save from the same account, but it may just be the account. I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this glitch. 24.181.62.15 21:49, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

I haven't heard of it in the Tutorial dungeon specifically, but falling through the map isn't at all unusual in an unpatched version of Oblivion (e.g., the Xbox version). The Unofficial Oblivion Patch fixed most of them up, but that'll only work on a PC, of course. Robin Hoodtalk 23:20, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

I did have the patch installed. (But aparrently not the one that fixes the infinite money glitch in Kvatch...) I guess it was probably a one-timer (as most fall-through-floor glitches.) Well thanks for replying! Just wanted to make sure it wasn't special or anything... 24.181.62.15 00:00, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Vampire death glitch

ok hi guys im not really sure if this counts as a glitch but i was a 100% vampire and i fast travelled at night but landed in day and my only save was the auto save so now i just reload my save and die in two seconds, any ideas besides making a new file. ty:) :) :) :)

The autosave was your only save? On that profile or altogether? Either way I have an idea, hopefully this might solve your problem.
Repeatedly tap the button that pops up a 'Wait' screen (the one that gives you an option to manually wait ranging from 1 hour to 24 hours) until your save loads, you should be prompted with the Wait screen, wait until night and if your guy survives, hoorah. If not, reload then repeatedly tap the button/trigger/key that opens up your character's info, inventory, quests, map, etc. as it loads, once it does load drink some health potions, quickly exit out and then wait until night again, hopefully this'll solve your problem, best of luck to you! :-) --Dremora Lord 19:04, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Odd Combination of Frozen and Active with No Crash

So, okay, this is a weird one. I had just finished clearing out Silorn for the mage's guild quest. I opened the secondary door from the second Silorn zone into the main area. The moment I did this, my character became partially frozen. I could look around, I could open my menu, select things, and even CoC out of a place, but I was stuck in the new location too. So, no movement, ever. No encumberd message, just total frozen moment, but with full camera control. My active spell effects stopped simultaneous, freezing in place. I also cant activate the door that is within reach. I have NO idea why this happend, and couldn't begin to figure out how to duplicate it. Nothing except my character seems affected, the entire world continuing as normal otherwise. 74.128.56.194 08:26, 14 November 2010 (UTC) That is strange. Did you try the code that you use so you can move during cutscenes? (Sorry, I play the 360 so I don't know the exact name of the code.) 24.181.62.15 22:17, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

I honestly didnt think to even try that. But the game was repaired after saving and reloading. 74.128.56.194 22:55, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
Okay, this was who i was looking for. I have the SAME problem. Only difference is that I was in an Oblivion gate, not at Silorn. My guy freezes, and does basically what you mentioned, but I can't wait, go through doors, talk, attack, change view or much else and then it freezes. When opening my journal, I cannot rotate my guy there either. I WAS going to just give up cuz there aren't any solutions and all, but i'll just use my dark elf instead. Oh I forgot to mention that I am stuck in an attacking position and frozen. This happens all the time, actually hog the time, as I mostly play Fallout 3/New Vegas now ;) LukaSlayer13 March 22, 2011 (UTC)

Improper NPC detection

Ive noticed this bug in Sage Glen Hallow most recently. Sometimes, and for no clear reason, attacking an opponent will summon allies, no matter if you were sneaking or killed the NPC in one hit. In this case, with 100 sneak and an instant kill sneak attack, no matter which of the three Conjurers I killed, the other two would rush up from the other sections of the place. 74.128.56.194 05:08, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

This seems to happen throughout the whole of Sage Glen. First time, near the start would summon the two nearest. Farther in, attacking any of the NPCs will summon six others and two spider daedra, no matter their distance. And it repeats again when going into the secondary Sage Glen zone. It takes sometimes half a minute for the NPC who detects me to reach me.74.128.56.194 05:26, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Oh for the love of..In Sage Glen Hideaway, the zone is segregated into two different chunks that dont connect internally. I killed (sneak attack) a Conjurer in the smaller one. Enemies from *the other part* detected me and ran through the entire complex. This has never happend in my game before.74.128.56.194 05:34, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

What mode of combat are you using? I know that this is something that happens quite often (maybe all the time) when sneaking and using bows and sometimes when using magic. I don't know that I've ever heard of this happening with melee weapons, but with as many bugs as Oblivion has, I suppose it's a possibility. --Darkle ~ Talk 06:37, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

I've never had that happen to me...has this only happened in Sage Glen Hollow? It may be worth mentioning there if nobody has ever encountered this glitch anwhere else. 24.181.62.15 23:04, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Floating cuirass

The Chorrol Cuircass (taken from a dead guard) was floating just like the paint brush glitch. i haven't seen this mentioned before and i was hopeing someone could verify this and add it to the page. i'm on the PS3, no mods, no console, Oblivion GOTY. 76.240.77.184 19:10, 26 November 2010 (UTC)Wolfchaldo

Tested this on the PC v1.2.0416, no unofficial patches, official plug-ins (+SI). I didn't experience this glitch. --Wizy 13:27, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Giant furniture O_o

I was dropping assorted silver tableware in GREAT amounts (In Battlehorn castle upgraded private areas) and when I exited out of the menu, many of the items were giant. Like the vase that was bigger than me, and a plate that could have held two giant turkeys. I was playing this with all the patches downloaded. Can somebody please explain this? Leaving the area did not fix it. It is not a game breaking bug, nor does it cause any lags, in fact it's kind of cool, and there is a fix (Just pick it up and re-drop it.) but I was wondering...why? And does it happen anywhere else then there? And is it just a one-timer? 24.181.62.15 01:01, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

I'll try this. It's been too long and I have things I need to do in Oblivion anyway.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 09:06, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Weird Floating Arrows

In every cell I go in, I find floating arrows. More details:

1: The arrows are always exactly in the center of the cell.

2: The amount of arrows is random.

3: The arrows can not be picked up.

4: The arrows are the same with steel arrows in appereance.

5: If I sleep or wait, the arrows dissapear, but they are still there when I come back.

??????

--Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 20:25, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

That's a normal function of the game engine. If you enter a cell after being shot with arrows, they will be removed from your body. Why they get placed at 0,0,0 in the cell is anyone's guess but that's how the engine does it. Most interiors are not centered on those coordinates so most of the time you shouldn't be seeing it happen. Arthmoor 20:54, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
While that sounds normal, the guards (Chorrol, Skingrad and Bravil) have been shooting me with silver, not steel arrows. --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 20:58, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
That's because the game engine leaves behind a generic model for any arrows it pulls out of you, regardless of what kind they are. Arthmoor 03:43, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Dewey Decimal & Grants Farmhouse

When i did the FrostCrag Spire Glitch to get the mace of doom and Sigil Stones i noticed in the distance some things that looked like big pointy rocks, so i started moving towards them, after a bit of walking it turned out there was another island, it had a copy of the bridge to castle skingrad and a copy of the Skingrad castle courtyard that i couldnt get inside of but could see into. next ot that was another castle, there were also several houses and a Brick building with a Renoit's Books sign in the front, close to that was a house i could enter called grants farmhouse test i went inside and it was similar to the jermane brothers house, but no furnature. There were six bottles of wine, two tamika , two suirille, and two cheap wine one the ground. close buy there was a silver pitcher. i went upstairs and into the attic becasue i heard a noise that sounded like a zombie, sure enough there was a zombie with a test name, it wasnt hostile until i drew my weapon. I went back to the Sigil stone area and realized that directly behind you when you first enter wilderness when you appear in the bruma test house, that there was a copy of Cloud Ruler temple that had no entrances, futher that was there was a black square and in the center a man dressed in blades gear weilding a steel longsword named dewey decimal, i talked to him and he had the normal rumors option. So far thats all i have found out about the Wilderness test area. And are there any other Test Halls you can get to on Xbox 360? ~Critias

Well, I'm not exactly sure, but I read that the Testing Hall is high in Oblivion's sky, so maybe with enough paint brushes you could get up there? lɹıƃoɹʎdsolʇ 20:25, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
That's rubbish, the Testing Hall is a totally different cell. --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 20:27, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
What I'm saying (if you were talking to me) is that I read that the testing hall is 'high in Oblivion's sky' so from Tamriel you could acess is. I read it here. I can't remember where, but it was here. lɹıƃoɹʎdsolʇ 20:56, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Nope, that's wrong, it is a totally different world. If you remember where you saw this, please remove it. --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 20:58, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Additional Minor Issues Not Covered by Official or Unofficial Patches

At the request of the administrators I have moved this section to its own page, here. I also added a link to the main Glitches page, and a description of the difference between a 'glitch' and an 'unresolved minor issue'. BFG 05:24, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Tutorial class change

I don't know if this has already been documented or not, but during the tutorial i set alteration as a major skill. As such, i had access to the Protect spell. Before leaving the sewers, I changed my class, and removed Alteration from my major skills. The protect spell disappeared, as it should have, but it was my selected skill, and i was still able to cast it and gain alteration experience until i deselected it. — Unsigned comment by Jarsen (talkcontribs) at 21:05 on 20 December 2010

I don't know if that specifically is documented, but it sounds like a variation of a bug I've come across before where if you have an item hotkeyed and then drop it (or maybe sell it), it can be reactivated under certain conditions (I don't remember the specifics off the top of my head). The only reference I could find to it on the site in a really quick search was this, so if you want to write something up more formally (i.e., in third person), we can put it on the glitches page. Robin Hoodtalk 23:16, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

There was a similar note in the character creation page, to which i made a small addition. — Unsigned comment by 142.151.192.104 (talk)

How to get back from Frostcrag Glitch

I did the glitch the way the site said but when I reinstall it I am OUTSIDE of the bedroom in the black area and can't get in WHAT DO I DO!? I am at the end of my rope Please HELP!? — Unsigned comment by 98.157.154.40 (talk)

you could uninstall again and then fast travel away from the testing hall and then reinstall the plug in. or if you can fast travel from frostcrag then just do that. — Unsigned comment by Critias (talkcontribs)

Imperial City Guard friends bug

ok when i did the dorian ifinite money glitch i then whent out side and a guard ran up to me he said that we was friends and he took care of my fine its was pretty cool but i was wondering if any one else has hade this happen to them also is there any whay to get ride of it without killing the guard-Grim Reaper

Ah, yes. If a Guards disposition to you is high (90-100, I think) They'll just pay off your fine for you. To get rid of it, just lower his disposition. lɹıƃoɹʎdsolʇ 22:19, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Steal Weapons and Armor From your Conjured Creatures!

OK I have just confirmed it. you can steel items from your conjured creatures (specifically weapons and armor that they are using). all you have to do is summon a creature that uses a weapon or shield (duh) and use the corrode weapon or armor spell on them causing them to drop the equipped item once the items health reaches 0!!! I have confirmed this on a lich, but have not yet tried it on other creatures. lich(requires lvl 100 conjuration to summon) gave me 3 different staffs upon doing this glitch

I just did this with the golden saint and dark seducer they dropped dark mace and golden longsword wasn't able to get their shield or armor so assuming this can be done with dremora that makes 5 summon spells this works with. Saint, seducer, skeleton, lich, dremora. Another way to make gold I guess.Datacaust 19:48, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

I cannot think of any weapons that the player cannot normally get that are held by summons. I believe that all of them are available at some points, such as Dremora weapons, Gold and Dark weapons, staves held by liches... --DKong27 Talk Cont 16:03, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

This is the only way to produce staves, since you can't permanent bound weapon glitch them. Minor but notable.Datacaust 16:20, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Not exactly sure what, has anyone tried the spell on Mehrunes Dagon? --Dremora Lord 17:00, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
I don't get what spell you mean. If you mean the Disintegrate Weapon, than nothing will happen. He has no weapons. --DKong27 Talk Cont 22:11, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
confirmed for lack of entertainment; disintegrate spells do nothing. also of note; common sense would have told you a hundred-foot-tall Daedra Lord won't have a spare adventurer-sized weapon on him just for kicks. the Razor does not exist until you install Unearthing Mehrunes Razor. Flying up Stairs

This isnt really a bad glitch or a good glitch for that matter. When I get up to a staircase if I jump right before I reach the first step then I will be jumping all the way up the stairs until I get to the top and then I will hear the sound of me landing on the floor. I dont know how this happens, I actually found this out by accident. I would often travel to Weynon Priory to use Jaufree's treasure chest to stow all my loot from dungeons. I am kind of impatient so I would jump all the way up the stairs and then go to the chest. But one time I jumped a bit early and didnt land until turned the corner and reached the top. I wouldnt call this a problem but I thought I would just put this in here

That ussually happens with the right timing, its not that you jump high enough to climb said stair in 1 jump, but you just jump very high. It doesn't only habben with stairs though, any kind of elevation gives you this effect, given that said elevation is straigth up (like the individual stairs), nothing will happen on hills or mountains for example. KrazorM 22:22, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Do you mean you jump higher when going up a flight of stairs at the right time? It is fun, drinking lots of Skooma and doing this can get you over city walls. --Dremora Lord 17:02, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

if you do this in themarket district you can get over the walls and out of the map. And you can then go anywhere inthe game but it's all just unloaded. It's hard to explain.. Like if you then walk over walls and out of the city, you would see th worlds you would through the map. So you know how the Imperial City looks through the world map? Yeah you would see tht right below character.

Guards have 100% percent responsibility and therefore report crimes instantly, you have to have 100 percent chameleon to avoid a bounty from them. Alpha Kenny Buddy 03:07, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
