LucienEdit

If you want to see why an edit was changed or undone, you should check the page history. You might also want to look over the section on After Your Edit is Saved.
In this particular case, it was undone because the content was not appropriate for a /Description subpage (see Category:Oblivion-Place_Descriptions) for the purpose and content of /Description subpages). Commander FarragutEdit

In Jules Verne's classic, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the captain of the Abraham Lincoln is Commander Farragut. Perhaps Fort Farragut is a reference to this literary figure? — Unsigned comment by Alien (talkcontribs) on 4 January 2009

Admiral Farragut was the commander of the Union navy during the American Civil War [1]. Verne's Cdr Farragut was based on him. Farragut is also an area of Washington DC, named after the Admiral, close to Maryland where Bethesda was based. Exterior MapEdit

Locked barrel?Edit

Where Exactly?Edit

New Discovery!Edit

I was searching for the base ring of speed, which I still haven't found. Outside the highest wall there, there is a very thin ledge running around the fort. Inside the corner of the ledge there is a grid-shaped mass of gold coins. I didn't count, but estimate 40 or so. The map marker is right about on top of the base ring's map marker, oddly enough. Somebody look into this?

That's the gold mentioned in the same sentence as the Base Ring of Speed. There's an X-shape of places where there's no gold, and at the center of that X is the ring. It's very easy to miss, or you may have knocked it off accidentally. Robin Hoodtalk 04:12, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Removed notesEdit

Here are the notes I removed after I incorporated them into my walkthrough :

  • There are ten respawning Poisoned Apples in a locked barrel (E on the map) near where you meet Lucien. You can access the barrel at any point in the game, even if you have not joined the Dark Brotherhood.
  • Once you open gate C providing access to Lucien Lachance's room, all of the Dark Guardians will die.
  • There is a trap door that works as a back door on the other side of the Fort inside a big tree.

Notes are supposed to be only for things useful to know after you've gone through the dudgeon, not important while you're going through the dudgeons. Those kinds of things should be in the walkthrough, which is where I put them.

Look, it's not like people are searching through place pages to find Poisoned Apples. The appropriate page mentions it, the quest page mentions it and so on. While I agree that the secret entrance deserve a note, the other two are less important. --Krusty 19:37, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

() Okay I re-added the Note about the secret entrance - then I merged the Note about Human Hearts and deleted one with guesswork:

  • The fort contains two rare human hearts: one lying in an open tomb, the other on a plate on a nearby table.
  • The open tomb seems to hold what remains of a Black Sacrament, which the heart is a part of.

Fallout 3 stationEdit

Not only are both places in the games named for the independent real-world location or David Farragut, but Fallout was released 2 years after Oblivion. This means the inclusion of the real station in Fallout had little to do with Fort Farragut in Oblivion. This could in no way be a 2-year-early Fallout reference, seeing as "Farragut" is a real-world reference, not attached to a game. Furthermore, this article is for in-game assistance only, meaning we shouldn't include any real-world references, because they would add useless clutter. - Neural Tempest 05:16, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

The section that Krusty linked to specifically says that this method of avoidance shouldn't work in Fort Farragut. Are you sure you were able to utilise it at this specific location? --Legoless 02:15, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

The web page doesn't match a normal location template.Edit

In Zone 1: Fort Farragut, the description and info goes off on a tangent assuming Lucien Lachance is/will be present to wit: "The initial purpose of Fort Farragut was to reach Lucien Lachance at Q..." But following the Wiki guidelines the initial purpose should be the same as any other Fort or ruin. Lachance in the location is an incidental that only comes into play when the Dark Brotherhood quest line is initiated and followed to The Purification quest. Zort??? Dark Guardians, all deadEdit

Hi there, still kind of new to this game, as well as new to Elder Scrolls as a whole, so I've much to learn, but I didn't see any info about this. The first time I've visited this place, all the Dark Guardians were already dead and could be looted (with nearly 200 iron arrows I must add, great to train Mercantile). However today (a few days after my first visit) I've returned in hopes to have some more easy arrows, but I've found that all the guardians were alive. I did also join the Dark Brotherhood very recently and visited their hideout. I don't know if that has to do with the Dark Guardians being alive or not, but that's the only connection I can make right now. 70.80.30.235 02:29, 12 February 2014 (GMT)

I've figured out how to reproduce this now. All that has to be done is to enter from the trapdoor entrance (as I have done on my first time), and as soon as the lever is pulled, all the Dark Guardians will drop to the ground. This can be clearly seen if a fair amount of Detect Life is active. As the lever is pulled, all the life in the dungeon will disappear. It doesn't seem to matter if the Dark Brotherhood quests are started, I have finished a few and it still works. But I'm not sure if this works if Lucien is around (he isn't there yet in my game). I suppose this is bug, yes? Or do I have to assume Lucien "de-animates" the Guardians by pulling this lever? Anyhow, I'll try again when Lucien is there. I'm playing on the PS3 version, so I don't have the huge bugfix patch that's available on the PC. It might be fixed on there... that would be worth checking out for PC users reading this.
