Arquen BugEdit

Hey

has anyone else seen where arquen doesn't recite her speech? she's not doing it on mine. i've sat around the statue for a good 20 minutes. Is there a console code to have the quest get completed so i can go into the dungeon under the statue to finish the dark brotherhood quests?

thanks — Unsigned comment by BeOSKid (talkcontribs) at 18:58 on 20 November 2006

Is the quest set as your "Active Quest"? Michael 02:14, 4 March 2007 (EST)

Lucien's CorpseEdit

Does Luciene's corpse stay there forever? Or does it disapear??? — Unsigned comment by 209.250.168.111 (talk) at 12:54 on 23 April 2007

I returned to Applewatch a while after doing the quest (I finished all the Thieves Guild quests between then and now) and his corpse is still there. I'm going to guess it stays there for the remainder of the game.

Black Hand Robes and HoodsEdit

Is there a reason why the Black Hand Robes and Hood doesn't have their information listed here? I've looked in all the item lists but I cannot seem to find them anywhere. They are unique enchanted items so I thought they would be... — Unsigned comment by 87.127.79.8 (talk) at 19:08 on 20 June 2007

I've added them now to Unique Items: Black Hand Robe and Black Hand Hood. --NepheleTalk 18:42, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

Mother's Head ReferencesEdit

Moved from main article, which should be fact-based rather than speculative:

  • Mother's head may be a reference to Alfred Hitchcock's movie Psycho or to be exact, Ed Gein.
  • Mother's head could also be a reference to Friday the 13th and KILLHIMKILLHIM to the background sounds from that movie that supposedly are KILLKILL.

a hidden code in Traitor's diary?Edit

so i was skimming through the diary and came upon a section that looks like a code of some sort anyone know what it is? located on page 16 and 17...

green, blue, red, yellow, orange 7 times, then black 5 times. — Unsigned comment by 75.43.79.187 (talk) at 04:12 on 24 January 2008

Yes, you can see the full thing here. I don't think it's a code though - more the insane ramblings of a diseased mind! The fact that RED and BLACK are in capitals says "Blood" and "Death" to me, two things pretty clearly on the traitor's mind! –RpehTCE 05:56, 24 January 2008 (EST)

Continuing the dead drop orders after the lighthouse....Edit

Has anyone continued with dead drop #8, and tried to kill arquen? is there anything beyond this? is it possible? — Unsigned comment by 146.57.80.52 (talk) at 18:46 on 7 March 2008

Arquen is Essential so can't be killed. –RpehTCE 10:23, 8 March 2008 (EST)
Not only that, but even if you do as the Dead Drop suggests and go to the Grey Mare in Chorrol, nobody there has any conversation topic involving Arquen. It's a dummy quest which can't be followed up on. 78.148.91.239 21:04, 5 July 2008 (EDT)-Jordy
lol, I actually went not only to Chorrol, but to Cheydenhol as well, because the dead drop note says to check for her in both cities. You can't ask anybody there about Arquen. WRFan 15:08, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

iv been waitingEdit

iv been waiting at the statue for the guy to come set the next fake order what time does he come iv been waiting a long time and he wont come. its when the dark brother hood guy gets pissed because i was doin the fake orders im stuck waiting in anvil. reach me at frankies411@yahoo.com or xbox live gamertag frankies411 — Unsigned comment by 72.230.47.4 (talk) at 21:10 on 28 April 2008

There's no fixed time. As soon as you're close enough to the barrel, Enilroth should start moving towards it. Perhaps you're standing too far away? –RpehTCE 06:31, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

just rest by the statue for like 3 hours and he would be standing by the barrel — Unsigned comment by 71.143.152.235 (talk) at 21:06 on 22 May 2008

The Lighthouse CellarEdit

Wow, that is really disturbing. Way worse than Hackdirt. Especially the diary. One very disturbed person. Aldage 17:53, 12 October 2008 (EDT)

Dead Drop RewardEdit

Am I correct in thinking that it's a bug that Enilroth keeps the 500 gold reward instead of putting it in the barrel? If so, we should mark it, but since much of the page seems to be written as though this were expected behaviour, I thought I'd ask for a second opinion before making appropriate changes. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 00:36, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

i concur this has happened to me, i reloaded a previous save a few times, but still he would not place the gold in the barrel, i believe it may be because he starts with a small amount of gold and its placing is handled differently, and so cant place the 500 gold in the barrel, i decided to just pickpoket it, only a 25gold fine for 500+ gold so meh.JamesDC99 19:39, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Never noticed this discussion before... It's his AI package. The note and money get added to Enilroth's inventory at stage 10 of the quest (by the quest script - Dark17FollowingScript). The AI package that runs is an escort package on the DarkLachanceOrdersBarrel - Dead Drop Orders #8 as it is more commonly known. That means that he carefully escorts the orders into the barrel... and keeps the money. There's already a script on OnPackageDone EnilrothBarrel so I suppose a fix would be to add code to remove the money from Enilroth and add it to the barrel in that script. rpeh •TCE 20:14, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Double KeysEdit

Just for fun, I pickpocketed the key to the Cellar and then demanded the guy give it to me. Oddly enough, he handed a second one over. I'm not sure if this is relevant enough for notes or if a confirmation would be needed. So I'm posting it here.

Is Lucien the father?Edit

In the diary, the psychopath rhymes: "mommy mommy as you lie the dark man comes and makes you die my daddy's hands are red with guilt because he killed the life we built" It seems like Lucien Lachance is his father, but it isn't mentioned in the article. What do you think? SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 09:23, 31 May 2009 (EDT)

Judging by the later entry "father prayed and guess who came the hooded man in Sithis' name" Matthieu's father had requested his mother to be killed, Lucien was just the one to carry out the contract, worth a mention on mathieu's page I think. — Unsigned comment by Baenlin (talkcontribs) at 09:28 on 31 May 2009
Ah, that's true. Thanks! — Unsigned comment by SwedishBerzerker (talkcontribs) at 14:16 on 31 May 2009

Help!Edit

I attacked Enilroth, it said he was unconscious. He then ran somewhere and i couldn't find him anywhere! Is there a way to progress with the Dark Brotherhood?

Dealing with UlfgarEdit

There is a note in the article saying: ... When you speak to him, ask (don't demand) for the key. When he asks why, you can either threaten to kill him or tell him the Dark Brotherhood demands it. .... On my game, there is nothing wrong on demanding the key in the first place - he just gives it to me. Also from a roleplaying point of view demanding the key has the benefit that you don't actually reveal to Ulfgar that a) You are a murderer/assassin or b) You are a D.B. member. Eth 11:52, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Whoever told you not to demand is probably just mislead, you can easily demand for the key and he'll give it to you. I don't know about asking though, when I did the quest I just demanded the key. --ModderElGrande 13:42, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Insanely weird bugEdit

I have not seen this bug been mentioned before, and I think it should be added. When I arrived at applewatch, I was met by the remaining members of the Black Hand, Belisarius Arius, Banus Alor, Matheiu Bellamont, Arquen and...an Imperial Legion Forester. He is walking around, restless , having casual conversations with the Speakers about mud crabs. He will also say "Greetings fellow speaker" to me when I walk by him. The hanging corpse of Lucien doesn't seem to bother him at all... I don't know why he is there, but he is unable to leave, even after everyone else have left. I'm done with this and the following quest, and still when I visit applewatch he is there. At least now he doesn't adress me as a fellow speaker anymore (at least he hasn't yet, but also when the DB-members were there he would mix up the "greetings fellow speaker" with the casual "You have my ear, citizen,", "this better be good", etc...) When I attack him and chose "resist arrest", he will still not follow me out. The bounty I get remains, and other guards will stop me if I approach them, but he will stay back in Applewatch. I remember there being some Imperial Legion Foresters outside when I was killing Perennia Draconis, and at one occasion he came in right after I'd killed her and arrested me (I loaded an older save after that, since I didn't want to be cathed). There's also a bunch of poisoned apples lying around the house, since I used the duplication method to make them (I thought I'd kill her with those instead, but it didn't work out since she makes her own food...). Is this an isolated bug, or has anyone else experienced it? I am playing on the xbox 360, and I've been playing for 140 hours on the file this is happening to.

Redundant NotesEdit

This note seems rather redundant, as it is very similar to one posted above. I'm not sure if should be removed, though.

If you ask Mathieu Bellamont about Lucien Lachance he says "You should take some time to admire his corpse. It really is a thing of beauty. The punctures and slashes are almost... poetic."

~~L0rd H3nRz 01:02, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Moved notesEdit

  • Outside Applewatch Farm, you can admire the graves of the Draconis family you took out earlier. Be careful, though; Perennia's grave will summon her angry ghost, if activated.
  • The mother's head in the cellar resembles Jason's shrine to his mother from the Friday the 13th part 2.
  • When the traitor talks about the woman Maria and the "big part" that his mother played in their life, eventually killing Maria, it may be a reference to the character Marion in Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho".

The first one seems irrelevant to this quest, the other two though... Coincidence or easter egg? They might be more suited on our easter egg page, but as always feel free to re-add them if you think I'm wrong. --AKB Talk 05:41, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

BuzzEdit

Once i entered the cellar, there was this buzz that sounded like flies, probably to make the rotting flesh of the place more dramatic. Did anyone hear it too? — Unsigned comment by 71.2.72.232 (talk) at 21:56 on March 28, 2011

EditedEdit

I edited "the hell" out of the beginning of the "Bloodstained Hands" part of the walkthrough because I didnt think profanity was strictly essential there. This is just a note to let you all know. Count Marius Caro 17:13, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't call it a profanity. Seemed like just some colourful language to signify Lucien's rage. But if it offended you, then it may offend others. Legoless 17:19, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

I wasn't offended, because I have no religion, I just thought other christians might be. Count Marius Caro 17:39, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Hmm , some would be , I agree , but I am an Atheist. I have christian friends , who said they would be offended by this.... but others said they wouldn't... 50/50. JackTurbo95 17:46, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

lucian attacked after speach?Edit

when i played, just after telling me what to do, he started to talk, was hit by an arrow, and ran off invisible.

is this part of the quest, or just a random accident? it could be a cool way of saying "their still after him." but it didnt make sense caues noone attacked me.... im just curious. -deaththethird

  • edit*

i unpaused the game and what did i see around the corner... a guard randomly attacking thin air. when i got close, i noticed a weird shimmer... it was a guard attacking him that shot the arrow. luckily, he is essential and only got knocked out. so nvm my question, and ill go ahead and leave this up here for anyone else that has this happen. — Unsigned comment by 68.52.35.42 (talk) on 23 May 2011

Congrats! You've just found another Oblivion AI bug! ;) No seriously, it's most likely an aggression-related bug. The guard for some reason did not like Lucien or Lucien did something the guard didn't like. Stuff like that is totally random. Try to see if you can get it to happen again. --SerCenKing Talk 18:30, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

I had something happen to me as well, though I must say I know why it happened. After his speech he suddenly ignited in flames and collapsed unconscious. If not for the fact that he was considered knocked out, I would have thought scripted and searched around for the killer but...I'm not that blind ;>_> I realized it was due to an after-effect of a blade I infused with similar traits as the Blade of Fiery Light except this is a Daedric sword I simply called "Blade of FIYA"...I'm guessing since Lucien appeared pretty much right after I killed the target, it then passed onto him after his speech.
