Oblivion talk:Azura

The following statement:

"One of the five Vampires you kill is a sorcerer who consitently summons many Dremora Catiffs. She is easy to kill, but on her corpse you will find about 12 different types of arrows, five of which are enchanted and an enchanted Daedric Bow (at high level). It is very useful for a sniper."

Is inaccurate. Like almost everything in this game, the spells and equipment used by the vampires is level dependant. Since this quest can be done as early as level 2, it is quite likely that many people playing it will not see any of the above. I was level 5 myself, and I got summoned Zombies, ordinary iron and a few silver arrows, and a Bow of Embers. (Which would have been cool, except I was already using a Bow of Embers.) I'd advocate removing or at least qualifying that statement somehow. Since every other archer after you reach a certain level is using an enchanted Daedric Bow, it's hardly worthy of mention here, I think. -- TheRealLurlock 00:05, 26 May 2006 (EDT)

I've removed it, because I agree and you've already got the text here in discussion. As the Wiki guidelines state, this guide is supposed to be general, so this comment is inappropriate outside a Discussion page, and so should be moved here as you have already done. --Actreal 02:40, 26 May 2006 (EDT)

Restoring in IMHO acceptable form...--Vook 05:44, 26 May 2006 (EDT)

Questions about the NotesEdit

"Immediately upon entering the Gutted Mine you may be attacked by a Storm Atronach..."

I've done this quest three times (I like Azura's star!) and never encountered a storm atronach, even when I did it with a pretty high-level character. In fact, I've never encountered anything other than the vampires and critters they may summon. So I was curious about this statement: how often has this happened to others? Is there any chance that the storm atronach followed someone in from outside the mine (an oblivion gate can open up near here)?

"You will encounter six vampires in the mine, the last being an ogre named Ghola gro-Muzgol. Once you have slain him, search his body to retrieve the 'Worn faded note' and read it to update your quest. You need to return this note to Azura's Shrine in order to collect Azura's Star."

I modified this one to fix a few inaccuracies: five vampires, not six; orc, not ogre; you don't need to return the note, it's really just background info --Nephele 03:54, 3 June 2006 (EDT)

I have now deleted the following comment about a storm/fire atronach:
  • Immediately upon entering the Gutted Mine you may be attacked by a Storm Atronach or a Fire Atronach, so enter the mine with the weapon of your choice at the ready.
I checked in the CS, and there are no daedra in the mine or even in the external cell immediately outside the mine. I think these reports must be due to daedra following people from the nearby oblivion gate, and just happening to catch up when they enter the mine. --Nephele 11:49, 29 October 2006 (EST)

Disambiguation needed?Edit

It seems to be consistent we need to seprate this page into two (one for the quest, and one for the Daedra Lord Azura), and of corse add a disambiguas page thingy -- Lorenz03Tx 25 July 2006

I was thinking the same thing... except it really needs to be done for all of the Daedric Quests listed at Oblivion:Daedric Quests. And you could argue three pages are needed: one for the quest, one for daedra lord, one for the place. --Nephele 13:07, 25 July 2006 (EDT)
Since the Daedra Lords are common to the entire series of games, I think that any general information about them should be in the Tamriel namespace. Specific information about their quests in each game of course belongs in that game's namespace, perhaps with a link to the Tamriel article. Locations as well are specific to the games, but there's generally not much to say about them, other than where they are, which is adequately covered by a single map showing all of them. So I see no need for those to have their own pages. --TheRealLurlock 13:20, 25 July 2006 (EDT)

Another Star?Edit

If you accidently sold or droped the reward for this quest Azura's Star, is it possible to do the quest again to get the reward or is there any other way to get the Star again? — Unsigned comment by 70.15.64.15 (talk) on 12 September 2008

Nope. It's one of a kind, so when it's gone, it's gone. –RpehTCE 01:24, 12 September 2008 (EDT)

Stars In The SkyEdit

After doing this quest, I happened to look up in the sky on a clear night, and I saw five bright stars in a circle. I don't remember whether they were there before or not, but it does seem like the sort of thing that might happen, especially since the vampire's note mentions that he hopes this would happen. — Unsigned comment by 97.113.81.93 (talk) on 18 January 2009

It's a nice thought, but the sky doesn't change as a result of this quest: they must have been there before. –RpehTCE 03:40, 18 January 2009 (EST)
aren´t those stars the "eternal candles" (or something like that)? — Unsigned comment by 186.104.21.196 (talk) on 16 February 2010
There are 5 candles on the rock behind the statue — Unsigned comment by 99.253.171.191 (talk) on 20 April 2010
Yes, the candles appear on the rock, but the OP was talking about stars in the sky. rpeh •TCE 06:39, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Deleted TextEdit

A Mountain Lion may be spawned near the location of the Will-o-the-Wisp creatures. Beware that the Mountain Lion does not run up the mountain and attack the 2 NPCs near Mels Maryon. If it does, they will die and Mels Maryon becomes invisible (he seems to be placed below the ground). This causes a problem when trying to talk to him, as you cannot find him. If this happens, simply wait for the appropriate time of day, and activate the statue while possessing Glow Dust.

I removed this paragraph that had been added to the Bugs section. Overall, the information provided in this paragraph is far too specific to a single player's experience and therefore the information is unlikely to be relevant to other players: the creatures that spawn in the area are level-dependent and not even guaranteed to appear; having a creature attack the shrine worshipers does not necessarily cause the subsequent problem. Furthermore, the described problem isn't even really a bug in the quest since it has no effect on your ability to do the quest. --NepheleTalk 22:35, 21 February 2009 (EST)

Duplicating StarEdit

Question that appears to not be answered. If you duplicate the star (By say, killing your shadow clone in the Shivering Isles and then having to break it open because it didn't drop Shadowrend) can you give one star to Martin and keep the other? Or will that bug out the game? FMPhoenixHawk (talk) 04:40, 23 October 2022 (UTC)

EDIT: It appears the game still treats it as one, as I had a soul in it and then when I used that soul, I now have two empty Stars. Guess that's not going to work. FMPhoenixHawk (talk) 05:08, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
