Elante of Alinor

Elante of Alinor is a High Elf sorceress and scholar of Daedric shrines. She has a particular interest in a shrine located deep within Brittlerock Cave. During the quest The Wandering Scholar, she will enlist the help of the Fighters Guild to protect her while exploring it.

Elante does not exist prior to the related quest. Following the quest she will always be found examining the newly-discovered shrine.

She wears a green silk garment, a green brocade doublet and a pair of green velvet shoes. Besides her spells (always strongest for Elante's skill level) she uses a silver dagger in combat. She also carries a leveled amount of gold.

The Wandering ScholarEdit

Azzan at the Anvil Fighters Guild will present you with your next assignment and give you some background on Elante:

"Good to see that you're looking for more work. There's certainly more to be done. I need you to help Elante of Alinor."
Elante of Alinor
"Elante is a scholar, interested in researching Daedra worship. Meet her in Brittlerock Cave, help her find the shrine, and keep her safe."
Daedric shrine
"That's what Elante is studying. Make sure she's safe while she does it."

When the conversation finishes, he will add: "Go protect Elante. She's doing important research."

When you arrive at the cave, you will find her waiting for you just inside:

"Ah, you must be from the Fighters Guild. Excellent! I'm looking forward to our investigation. Fascinating subject, these Daedra."
Elante of Alinor
"I am Elante of Alinor."
Daedric shrine
"My research shows there is likely a shrine in these caves. I'll need you to accompany me to the shrine, handle any... difficulties."

She will then start slowly making her way through the cave, always making sure you are nearby before pressing on. Speak to her now and she will say:

"What can I do for you? We need to head to that shrine."
Daedric shrine
"Yes, let's investigate! And keep on your toes!"

Once you arrive at the broken shrine, she will be thrilled:

"Excellent. A fine example of a Daedric shrine. Sorry for the trouble getting here. Let's keep moving."

After she has given the shrine a quick examination, she will release you from your contract:

"I think I'll study this shrine a bit longer. You can make your way out here. I thank you again for your help. Please, take this token of my thanks."

She will then give you a copy of the Blade skill book 2920, Morning Star (v1). Asking her about the shrine now will net you:

Daedric shrine
"A fine study to add to my research. I thank you for your help."

Any further questions on the subject of the shrine will then earn you the response:

Daedric shrine
"I appreciate all of your help. Thank you."

Before you complete the quest, fellow guildmates will remark:

"This lady wants to study Daedra, so she buys a guild contract. You ever heard of anything so goofy?"
"She's got no business poking around in Brittlerock Cave, but the customer is always right, eh?"

After completing the quest, citizens of various towns and your fellow guildmates may mention her:

"Elante of Alinor? She's the Daedric scholar, right? She'll live to write again, thanks to the Fighters Guild."
"Azzan says the scholar lady was lucky to get back alive. But Oreyn's new 'hard hand' did just fine in a tough situation."

  • Elante stays in Brittlerock Cave after the related quest is over. Since the Daedra in the cave respawn, she will likely be killed by them should you return to the cave after completing the quest.
  • Elante makes an appearance in Morrowind, within the cave of Ibar-Dad - the tomb of Mordrin Hanin - wherein Elante is encountered as a hostile NPC; her notes indicate that she was engaged in researching the Daedra therein.
