The following note was recently added to the article:

• If you are not undertaking the quest, Old Blue Fin will be named Slaughterfish, and killing him may prevent you from completing this quest when you activate it. In other words, it is best to not kill any Slaughterfish near the docks of Ald Velothi, prior to activating the quest

Sorry, but this isn't true. Old Blue Fin is only enabled when Theldyn Virith tells you that "He's a Slaughterfish we see around here every couple of years." It is not possible to kill OBF before this point. rpeh •T•C•E• 08:02, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
