Foundation of the fortEdit

Given that Fullhelm Fort exists on the site of Fort Dawnguard in ESO, would that be sufficient grounds to date the founding of the Dawnguard and the fort to the late Second Era (i.e. 2E 582-896)? Vicano (talk) 22:25, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

Fullhelm Fort sits more and less on the site of the entrance to the Dayspring Canyon, while Fort Dawnguard would be located deep within it. It is unlikely that the two are meant to be the same; however, the Dawnguard do receive a brief mention in ESO, so the group, and possibly the fort, must already exist (or have existed) in some form. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 10:13, 3 February 2018 (UTC)

Did the Dawnguard exist before Skyrim's expansion ?Edit

The Dawnguard as a faction has been invented for the expansion of Skyrim, right ? I mean was there any mention of them in-game universe prior to this addon for this game, or in any of the previous TES game(s) ? Cant stop but thinking they were actually meant to be Vigilants, and why they might have got orphaned as a faction in favor of those guys incase if that was so. A theory that can be guessed that it was related to out-of-game reasons, as in like the developers willing to solidify their ownership on their works through inventing the original intellectual property of a faction, in this case that being the Dawnguard. Thus might be due to similar reasons Relic invented Blood Ravens for their Dawn of War series in Wh40k. — Unsigned comment by 37.154.171.98 (talk) at 12:14 on 21 February 2021 (UTC)

And who else is supposed to own the Vigilants of Stendarr, then? No, there were no mentions of them in previous games; but it makes sense if you consider the order had simply ceased existing, until Isran decided to re-create it. --Gez (talk) 08:12, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
