The Lonely Sentinel

Beldaburo is an Ayleid ruin in the Gold Coast of Cyrodiil near the Abecean Sea and Brena River, found southwest of Sutch.[1]

The inhabitants of Beldaburo are believed to have worshipped the Daedra during the time of the imperatum saliache, but no modern-day scholar can determine which Prince they venerated anymore; as Phrastus of Elinhir put it, "there's just simply no way to tell".[UOL 1] It later fell into ruin after the Alessian Slave Rebellion, as the burgeoning Alessian Empire toppled the remaining Ayleid cities of Cyrodiil one by one.

In 2E 582, the exterior ruins had worn down as much of it had collapsed over the years. A scholar named Solus Vertilus camped out at near the ruins with the plan to explore them, and observed a group of minotaurs congregate at the outside part of the ruins.[2][3] The minotaurs did not appear to have delved further into the ruins,[2] as the entrance was barred at the time.[3] Vertilus also witnessed a strange light emanating from the ruins, later discovering it to be the Lonely Sentinel, an Ayleid spirit who would kneel with his sword on the walkway of the ruins before traveling back inside.[2][3] Vertilus planned to discern a means of opening the doorway before the minotaurs returned from their hunt.[2]

In 3E 433, the entrance to the ruins had been opened. A group of conjurers came to inhabit the ruins, along with Daedra and other undead.[4]

NotesEdit

  • A statue believed to depict Auri-El is located atop the entrance to the ruins.
