Yngol Barrow (also called the Barrow of Yngol) is an ancient Nordic ruin found in the province of Skyrim, in the region of Winterhold. It is known as the burial ground of Yngol, the eldest son of the Harbinger, Ysgramor. In some sources, Yngol Barrow is found below the cliffs of Hsaarik Head, though an entrance can be found along the White River. It is constructed in the Atmoran tradition.
During a trip across the Sea of Ghosts, Ysgramor and the Five Hundred Companions were caught in a terrible storm which caused the loss of both Yngol and the crew of the Harakh. When Ysgramor claimed his son's body he had it buried in the Atmoran barrow-hill tradition near where the White River met the Sea of Ghosts. After the disbanding of the Five Hundred Companions, Ysgramor would reencounter Yngol Barrow and decreed that a great city should be built near by in order that he have a view of the barrow from his seat of power.
During the Fourth Era, Yngol Barrow was largely untouched and had become Draugr-infested. After acquiring the Coral Dragon Claw in Winterhold, an adventurer would delve Yngol Barrow. There they encountered Yngol's Shade and claimed the Helm of Yngol upon his defeat.
