Collect Thunderbug maggots for Alphrost
Though most of the rotmeth was stolen, an unfinished batch remains. Alphrost needs some special ingredients to complete what's left of the brew.

Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Talk to Alphrost.
  2. Collect the ingredients.
  3. Meet Alphrost at Cold Cave.
  4. Defeat the frost atronach.
  5. Return to Alphrost.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Firuin's minions may have stolen most of the rotmeth from upstairs, but there's still an unfinished batch that Alphrost wants to finish. He needs to season the brew with thunderbug hearts, and maggots to destroy the more dangerous poisons present in the brew made of fermented meat. You need to collect five Thunderbug Hearts and three Thunderbug Maggots. The maggots can be found in Thunderbug Nests, which are located near pairs of wild thunderbugs.

Once you've collected the ingredients Alphrost requested, meet him in front of Cold Cave below the village. When you arrive, he looks nervous. When Firuin worked at the brewery, she summoned a frost atronach to keep the rotmeth cold. Without her to bind the Daedra, it has thawed and awakened. You need to destroy the frost atronach to keep the village above from harm. Destroy the atronach and speak with Alphrost for a reward.

NotesEdit

  • Although Alphrost says the frost atronach has now thawed and is roaming around the cave, Igudhan doesn't exist in the cold cave at all, frozen or otherwise, before starting the quest or reaching the related objective.

BugsEdit

  • Igudhan appears inside the cold cave before speaking with Alphrost once he is outside the cave. Defeating the frost atronach without speaking with Alphrost completes the objective out of order, proceeding to the next objective of talking with Alphrost again. ?

Quest StagesEdit

For Everything a Season
Finishes Quest Journal Entry
I should head down the hill near Vulkwasten village to find thunderbugs and their maggots. I may need to dig through the thunderbugs' nests to find their maggots.
Objective: Collect Thunderbug Hearts: 0/5
Objective: Collect Thunderbug Maggots: 0/3
Objective Hint: Search Nests for Maggots
Alphrost asked me to meet him near Cold Cave when I was finished gathering the thunderbugs and maggots. Its entrance is on the hillside below the village.
Objective: Talk to Alphrost at Cold Cave
Cold Cave is kept that way by a dangerous frost atronach inside. At a loss for how to control the creature, Alphrost asked me to eliminate it.
Objective: Kill Igudhan
Finishes quest  I should return to Alphrost and let him know Cold Cave is safe once more.
Objective: Talk to Alphrost
Notes
* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
