(Redirected from Dragonborn talk:Bend Will)

DurationEdit

How long does the second word of the shout last on humans? 173.73.159.61 05:01, 20 December 2012 (GMT)

30 seconds. — ABCface 05:18, 20 December 2012 (GMT)

Article CleanupEdit

I decided to start cleaning up the article, as directed by the cleanup notice. I just gave a brief overview, feel free to add more if need be.TheGrayThunder (talk) 05:21, 22 December 2012 (GMT)

Everything looks in order. Unless anyone has any objections, I'll remove the cleanup tag as well. • JAT 06:31, 22 December 2012 (GMT)

Dragon-slaying utilityEdit

Does it bear mentioning in the article how useful (and cheap) this shout is for killing pesky dragons? They'll land as close to you as possible and hold patiently still while you take a few swipes at them. Makes annoying encounters much less annoying. 70.122.230.105 03:59, 2 January 2013 (GMT)

When I used it on an Ancient Dragon attacking me in Falkreath, it literally froze the dragon in the air while everyone below riddled it with spells and arrows. Perhaps that's because it was over buildings and trees at the time and couldn't figure out where to land. 174.6.51.17 07:08, 6 March 2013 (GMT)

Useful for Powering the Ebony Blade?Edit

Anybody tested this? If you use this shout on an NPC, does it make them a viable "ally" for the purposes of the ebony blade's powerup quest? — Unsigned comment by 184.166.85.25 (talk) at 16:36 on 10 February 2013

I'm not sure, but I would assume no. The qualifications for an Ebony Blade victim is their relationship rank towards you being greater than 0. I would assume the second word of this shout works much like Animal Allegiance, and only changes their combat script for a limited time, not their disposition towards the player. Dragons resisting this shout?Edit

I have a problem when I try to use this should on random encounter dragons in the world. I'm level 72 and encountering mostly revered dragons. Every time I try to us this shout it says the dragon resisted it. Is there a PC level to dragon type requirement, like it only works on weaker dragons? Does it not work if you take a couple shots at the dragon with a bow first, or do you need to beat them down to half HP before trying to use it? Any information on this would be helpful on the page I think. — Unsigned comment by 209.221.90.250 (talk) at 17:47 on 19 February 2013‎

I'm level 81, and succeeding against Legendary Dragons with no issue. I don't know what would cause dragons to resist it, unless you're not using the full shout. Nosvertu (talk) 22:31, 23 February 2013 (GMT)
Specific dragons I've found so far that appear to be immune to this shout include Paarthurnax and the Skuldafn dragon. I've used it against revered dragons no problem, and it works just fine against both damaged and undamaged dragons (though it's generally better to use it on undamaged dragons, having your dragon get killed while you're riding it is unpleasant.) --Morrolan (talk) 14:56, 25 February 2013 (GMT)
Out of curiosity, what exactly happens if they die mid-air while riding them? I can't test it yet on my low-level character. --178.1.114.14 16:35, 14 March 2013 (GMT)
So far I've used it on Sahrotaar and the Northwind Summit dragon fine. The Shearpoint one and Bonestrewn Crest ones resisted it (Legendary Dragon and normal Dragon, respectively.) Alarra (talk) 05:45, 6 March 2013 (GMT)
Well, it has to work on Sahrotaar, for storyline reasons. There's no other way to reach Miraak's arena. As for the others, I have no clue.... TheGrayThunder (talk) 06:23, 6 March 2013 (GMT)

Bend Will as PacifyEdit

So, is the 'becoming an ally' effect on NPCs equal to a Pacify effect outside of combat? I'm asking because I have to calm a certain Spell Vendor down --88.78.58.28 00:35, 17 March 2013 (GMT)

Its similar but not exactly the same, it should probably work for what you want tho.
  • If there is only one hostile enemy and you use a calm spell, the enemy will become calm and return to what ever activities they was doing before you arrived.
  • If there is only one hostile enemy and you use Bend Will, the enemy will become calm and return to what ever activities they was doing before you arrived.
  • If there is two or more hostile enemies and you use a calm spell on one of them, the enemy you calmed will return to what ever activities they was doing before you arrived and the rest of the enemies will continue to attack you.
  • If there is two or more hostile enemies and you use Bend Will on one of them, it will help you fight against the rest of the enemies who will continue to attack you.
This is how it seems to be from my experiences anyway. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 04:19, 21 March 2013 (GMT)

The word MULHaaNEdit

I don't believe the words combined form "Strong Slave" because the first word is MUL and the second word is HaaN, not aaN. Suppose it is a similar word to "Haas" Health. Possibly it is strong and healthy? — KunvuloninKünvülänin 03:22, 21 March 2013 (GMT)

DremoraEdit

Playing on Xbox, this shout doesn't work on Dremora. I tried 1-word, 2-words, and 3-words on a Kynval, Valkynaz, and Lord, all with the same failing result. Irritating, considering it works on Legendary Dragons. Username12345 (talk) 05:28, 19 April 2013 (GMT)

Dremora are Daedra so the shout won't work on them.Martingolding96 (talk) 12:56, 28 January 2014 (GMT)

Article doesn't mention those immuneEdit

I had a high level Dragur actually resist it completely, I don't know the exact type, but if there are enemies that are immune I think they are worth mentioning in the article HomestuckOtaku (talk) 02:58, 26 June 2013 (GMT)
Bend Will 'Only' works on Animals, Humans and Dragons so anything else will resist.Martingolding96 (talk) 13:04, 28 January 2014 (GMT)

Seem to have annoyed someone.... (extra Lurkers)Edit

I went to the island fairly early, since I was a member of the Thieves Guild and wanted to get Glover Mallory's armor. While retrieving the Advanced Bonemold Formula, I made a side trip and obtained the first word of Bend Will. When I came back to the island much later, exploring out to Tel Mithryn, just for the hell of it I used the Bend Will shout on the Sun Stone. The game was not amused. Not only did I have to fight the Lurker who usually appears when the stone is cleansed, another two Lurkers came charging out of the sea in a very bad mood. An Ancient Dragon arrived shortly after that, though I believe this latter was just chance. So, especially on the higher difficulty levels, players might want to hold off on cleansing the Stones until they are actually in the relevant part of the quest. Dragon LairsEdit

When revisiting Dragon Lairs if the dragon won't give a soul after killing it then it will resist Bend WillMartingolding96 (talk) 13:21, 28 January 2014 (GMT)

Level?Edit

Does the spell have a level limit or does it work on all npcs that don't specifically resist it? 68.33.72.213 02:19, 10 March 2014 (GMT)

Important Shout for QuestlineEdit

Unless I'm mistaken, you MUST cleanse all of the All-Maker Stones (excluding the Stone Miraak's Temple is built around) before Storn will be persuaded to relinquish the Skaal's secrets to Her-Mora as part of the questline. The powers themselves indeed are not needed to complete it.--CStone (talk) 18:09, 10 February 2018 (UTC)

You're right, the stones must be cleansed to get Storn to help. The line may have only been insinuating that you could progress through to that point, but it is a bit misleading so I've removed it. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:37, 10 February 2018 (UTC)

This shout is buggedEdit

Okay so A ancient dragon attacks solitude killing stormcloaks and i tried using the bend will and it has no effect and before you ask me, Yes I'm using the full shout but i have no luck on taming this ancient dragon — Unsigned comment by 71.220.173.180 (talk) at 08:21 on 14 June 2018
