On that day, Dagail, as usual, sat on a bench in the hall of the Mages Guild. I was almost past her when she suddenly called out to me. "Greetings, child!"
When communicating, Dagail calls absolutely everyone a "child" - I think she undoubtedly has the right to do so. It's hard to say exactly how old she is, but, taking into account the innate longevity of elves, multiplied by magical art, it should be at least four or five hundred years.
"Greetings, sorceress," I replied.
"I want to tell you a secret, child, about gaining strength." she said.
Then her eyes tightened with a slight drag, and looking somewhere through me, in one of her guided visions, she continued in a slightly changed voice:
"You should know that three paths lead to power: bronze, silver and gold. The bronze path is in the abode of the dead, but those who are brave can easily walk it. The silver path runs between the sword and the flame, this path is found in the balance between strength and reason. The golden path is the path of faith, and those walking the path of piety will undoubtedly be able to walk it. These are the three paths to strength, and those who pass them will gain great power ..."
Having finished speaking, Dagail was silent for a while, then silently opened the book and continued reading as if nothing had happened.
I also turned around and walked on, pondering what I heard.
