Find and clear a blockage in the Imperial City aqueduct.
Quest Giver: Vabvam Drothran
Location(s): Imperial City
Reward: 70 gold and a book
ID: AqueductQuest

Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Read a notice about the aqueducts, or talk to Vabvam.
  2. Find the blockage and clear it.
  3. Return to Vabvam and get the key to the waterworks.
  4. Search the waterworks for the second blockage.
  5. Return to Vabvam for your reward.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

There are two ways to begin the quest. One is to speak with Vabvam directly; the other is to find one of the notices dotted about the IC (which will direct you to speak to Vabvam). Either way, he'll send you down the tunnel in his house to find a blockage. Note: When you enter Charcoal Cave, take the first tunnel going downward - otherwise you'll have to deal with the creatures living there. You can also just leave his house and follow the falls outside; either way, you'll end up on the aqueduct proper. Check all the trapdoors along the way until you find the blockage, then return to Vabvam. He'll give you the key to the locked door at the end, which leads to the waterworks. Go inside, and you'll find a dead Argonian blocking the water flow. Remove the body to get another quest update. Vabvam will reward you, and the quest will be complete.

The book you receive upon completing the quest hints at the real reward. To get the reward to appear, one must throw coins into specific fountains around the Imperial City's districts in a specific order: Palace, Temple, Arboretum, Talos Plaza, Arena, and finally the waterworks. A chest in the pool near Vabvam's house will spawn, containing the ring Unda Orbis.

NotesEdit

  • This quest (and the aqueduct itself) won't appear unless you have Better Cities - Imperial Isle.esp installed.

10 There seems to be a problem with the Imperial City Aqueduct, that's why the fountains aren't working. Vabvam Drothran, the Dunmer who maintains the aqueduct, needs some help. His house is near the Charcoal Cave waterfalls; where the aqueduct begins.
20 I've agreed to help Vabvam. He asked me to walk over the aqueduct towards the Imperial City and look for a blockage. When I've found and cleared the blockage I can come back to receive my reward. or

30 I cleared the blockage but the fountains still don't seem to work, Vabvam gave me the key to the waterworks, maybe there's another blockage in there.
40 I cleared the blockage, which turned out to be a dead Argonian. I should go back to Vabvam and tell him that I've solved the problem.

I told Vabvam I cleared the blockage, and he seemed happy. He also gave me 70 coins for my services and a book about the history of the Aqueducts. It isn't much money, but the book seems interesting...

Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  •   It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage AqueductQuest stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
