Welcome!Edit

Hiya Qqqbbb! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's great when we get new members. Just thought I'd send you a welcome with some helpful info. Check out the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at the Userboxes page: a near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~ (do not sign edits to articles). Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun!

Your edits to word wall informationEdit

Just wanting to double-check that you are making sure your information is sourced, yes? That is to say, these are direct transliterations of the characters seen on the walls in-game? I'm concerned mostly because you seem to be making a lot of rapid changes, not because I'm suspicious of you. Xolroc (talk) 21:12, 14 October 2013 (GMT)

I've been able to verify a couple of these edits so far. --Xyzzy Talk 01:25, 15 October 2013 (GMT)
Yes , Im using nifs from the game as the source. — Unsigned comment by Qqqbbb (talkcontribs) at 02:56 on 15 October 2013
Hiya Qqqbb. It would be helpful to start leaving edit summaries for your edits to explain the changes you're making, so that other editors (particularly patrollers, who have to verify information which has been changed or added) are aware of the reasons for the change. It doesn't need to be elaborate-- a simple "edited based on nifs from game data" or something to that effect would do. Thanks in advance! And please ask if you have any questions. Have fun editing, and thanks for your contributions to the wiki! — ABCface 03:20, 15 October 2013 (GMT)
I do "a lot of rapid changes" because often when I save edited page some text ( that I didnt touch ) becomes messed up and I have to save it again. — Unsigned comment by ‎ Qqqbbb (talkcontribs) at 03:32 on 15 October 2013
Who should I talk to about changing translation? — Unsigned comment by Qqqbbb (talkcontribs) at 08:13 on 15 October 2013
That's what the "show preview" button is for; we request that you use it whenever possible. The tables and such can behave strangely! As for talking to someone about changing translations, just put it on the talk page and you'll get answers fairly soon.
Additionally, we request that you indent your replies on talk pages by putting one more ":" than the previous person at the start of the line, and sign them by writing four '~'s at the end of your comment. Xolroc (talk) 12:46, 15 October 2013 (GMT)
"show preview" does not help. Page looks OK in preview but when I click "save page" text gets messed up.Qqqbbb (talk) 17:29, 15 October 2013 (GMT)

() I suspect that's the caching issue. Just make all your edits to the page, save, and then make a null edit (open the page to edit and then save, you don't need to alter anything). The second save doesn't show up in the history but it does restore the text. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:09, 15 October 2013 (GMT)

Speaking of formatting, Silencer just made a perfectly good example of the use of outdent. When there adds up ridiculously many indent levels (that is number of : used), then it is proper to outdent it to start level again by adding {{od}} ahead of the text, rather than even one more level of : ahead of your contribution. —MortenOSlash (talk) 19:13, 15 October 2013 (GMT)
Some word wall translations are not complete but they can be found at www.thuum.org. Why not copy them?Qqqbbb (talk) 01:43, 16 October 2013 (GMT)
Quality control. We would rather users took the time to verify this information themselves than rely on outside sources. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 01:52, 16 October 2013 (GMT)
