Skyrim talk:Venarus Vulpin

NameEdit

When I encountered Venarus (before starting any Dawnguard quests, I honestly just wanted some skooma.) his name was just "Master Vampire". Should this be added to the article? Just to be clear, I am using the latest official patch, as well as the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch. - 50.92.103.208 13:51, 14 October 2012 (GMT)

Well, this is simple - you didn't encounter Venarus at all. Until you start the quest, it's just generic vampires in the location. This is like most such quest encounters. Likely when you do start the quest, the location will respawn with the appropriate characters. TheRealLurlock (talk) 14:12, 14 October 2012 (GMT)
The Redwater Wellspring key was on his body, in fact, I still have it. If it wasn't him, then perhaps the Redwater Wellspring Key should clarify that it can be found on him, OR a generic vampire if Dawnguard hasn't been started yet. - 50.92.103.208 15:04, 14 October 2012 (GMT)
Likely the key would be carried by the boss NPC whoever it happens to be. You didn't happen to get a screenshot did you? Or at least get a look at the face of the guy you saw and compare it to the one on this page? That would be your best indication that it's not the same person. I encountered more or less the same thing, except for a little difference: the boss was named Venarus Vulpin and looked like the one in the article's picture... however, his body was named "Master Vampire" after exiting the game and reloading. I wonder if this could be a bug related to Dawnguard's UOP.--201.10.32.238 23:54, 29 October 2012 (GMT)
Sneaking past him during the quest and opening the door to the spring will also change his name to Master Vampire. 84.87.238.218 19:05, 17 November 2012 (GMT)

PickpocketEdit

If you open his coffin and catch him sleeping, you can pickpocket him without having to kill him. --71.194.212.198 03:30, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
