Typo

Not sure if this is a typo or not, but it's incorrect either way."Character creation also affects which quests are available, with some quests only being offered to those specializing in certain skills".Character Creation does not affect which quests are available, because you don't choose a class or major skills when you create your character.Only character development affects what quests are available, and those are only Radiant Story quests, not all quests. 75.104.96.37 17:59, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

That sentence was definitely incorrect; the writer must have been confused. I tweaked it to reflect what the reference actually says. Legoless 18:14, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
I tweaked your tweak so that the sentence flowed better Qwertyone 14:41, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

dungeons

Didnt Todd say at E3 today that there will be over 150 dungeons? 208.107.41.91 22:20, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Yup. Changed. rpeh •TCE 06:20, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Box Art

Guys someone should add the box art of the game to the main page they already have one for the game right here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyrim Fin Dova Feyn 06:52, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Guys I have the the box art here: Media:SR-cover-Skyrim Box Art.png
Someone should put this on the main page (sorry I don't know how) Fin Dova Feyn 02:29, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
I'll just leave a post so not to give the impression to ignore you. Um, I think most active people here are just waiting for an admin to reply to your post. And admins are usually busy, but that doesn't mean they ignore people, just letting you know. Though I could add the image myself, I don't know what the plans for the page are etc. so I'm not going to get involved with that without an admin giving the green light, but I don't see why the image can't be added. ~ Dwarfmp 02:51, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
Ok I understand (I would have added it myself but I dont know how) Fin Dova Feyn 16:00, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
We are on it. We just have to decide whether or not to go for the full "cover-treatment" like on the other main pages - or to simply keep it as an image for now. --Krusty 11:48, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
As long as people know what the box art looks like I'll be alright. Fin Dova Feyn 12:23, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
So whats going on are you guys gonna post the image? Fin Dova Feyn 09:45, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Be patient. Everybody knows what the cover art looks like and we want to ensure to get the best version possible. --Krusty 11:43, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Okay man Fin Dova Feyn 12:49, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
All done! :) --Krusty 10:15, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks man I appreciate it. If I find out more info about the game Ill be sure to mention it Fin Dova Feyn 07:25, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

Voice actors

Is it worth noting that Skyrim has about 70 voice actors? I heard it in an interview awhile ago. And also mentioned is the main quest takes about 30 hours. Its discussed here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tm1vsy7jbwA Fin Dova Feyn 09:22, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

I think it is worth mentioning, but it's best to wait until E3 is over, as more information is likely to be revealed. I also saw a screenshot of someone on a horse in there, that's most likely good news there too. Thanks for the link ~ Dwarfmp 11:41, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Theres actually gameplay showing the player riding a horse here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic6dKnv3WdU you can see it around 5:39 Fin Dova Feyn 12:05, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Im planning on posting some info on voice actors which section should I put it in? Development? Fin Dova Feyn 15:41, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
It's best to put any information you have on that right here on the talk page, in THIS section :) (you keep making sections of the same name for some reason). If the information is worth adding, someone will add it appropriately. I think this article is rather sensitive so it's best to let an administrator or patroller add it ~ Dwarfmp 15:48, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
I hope they do it soon because there is a lot of info out there thats not even on the main page even simple things like box art and Max von Sydow doing the voice of Esbern Fin Dova Feyn 15:57, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
To be perfectly honest, you should collect all the info you find relevant in a Sandbox (like in this thread). Keep in mind, that we ONLY want information we know is 100% certain -meaning, that you can skip a whole lot of the E3 information until we get closer to release date. They are not even done developing it yet - and that is basically why we're not updating the page at all times. --Krusty 12:32, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
I understand but the Max von Sydow voicing Esbern is 100%. He also did the voice over in the gameplay trailer thats worth mentioning at least. Fin Dova Feyn 12:42, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

() On the subject of voice actors, is there any info on the distribution of VA talent? Specifically, the amount of voices available for Khajiit and Argonian NPCs? (Hopefully it will be different than Oblivion, where ALL the Argonians and Khajiits could only have out of two, Male and Female.) --Whyrainfalls 01:24, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

As of the moment there are 70 voice actors and about 60,000 Dialogue lines so yeah there will be more diversity than in Oblivion Fin Dova Feyn 08:59, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Armor

Should it be mentioned that the armor doesn't come in individuals, (like helmet, leggings,ETC.) but that it comes in sets instead? Secret Chief 18:15, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Where did you hear that? It's incorrect. One of the gameplay videos distinctly shows separate armour pieces in the inventory screen. Legoless 18:56, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
im sure its wrong but i heard it on another wiki Secret Chief 00:04, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
If they haven't provided a reference, it should be treated as speculation. --Legoless 15:19, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
This is why we deal in referenced information rather than speculation, unlike certain other wikis I could mention. Also why I've been such a bastard about content on the few pages we have for Skyrim. Some sites might crow about their page count on Skyrim, but the few pages we have are accurate and useful rather than sparse and filled with guesswork. rpeh •TCE 16:59, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Just because a wiki has a lot of pages doesn't mean its inaccurate or full of guesswork respect other people's work He-who-cares 11:38, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
That is not what Rpeh is saying. He is saying that some sites brag about how many pages they have a Skyrim, but none of their information is referenced, so we have to assume it is rumor, rather than pre-released facts. --Brf 11:43, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
I have never come across a site that "brags" about how many pages they have and there info is referenced and if you actually look it up on the web you will see that it is a Fact. He-who-cares 11:56, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Then you aren't looking very hard. As for having to Google facts to check them: I shouldn't have to - they should be referenced. For ages, one wiki had a totally incorrect title for TESV that was only corrected when Skyrim was announced. At "UESP" we stick to verifiable facts, not fanboy gossip. If that's what interests you I suggest you try one of the other wikis you've clearly come from. rpeh •TCE 11:58, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Now your saying I came from one of those wikis wow I love how you judge people and how can you say that that is what interests me? I never said that. Im just saying because I hate it when people think that there work is better than other people's work. I remember when you said and I quote "The vault is not a good wiki" how would you feel if someone said that about UESP "rpeh" ?He-who-cares 12:06, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
I believe that it's stated in a couple of video interviews that the grieves and curiass armor set pieces will be combined into one, so that the game runs more smoothly.Kurbads 18:00, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Yup, they combined both the grieves and cuirass its stated here http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1207390-skyrim-fan-interview/ Fin Dova Feyn 09:56, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Games for Windows Live

Bad news everyone, if you watch the E3 walkthrough of Skyrim on Spike tv, when the game cases appear at the end of the demo, the "Games for Windows Live" banner is clearly visible at the top of the PC case. Can anyone confirm that this will definately be a GOW game, I mean it seems pretty likely but a man can still hope eh?

Anyway, that's probably a useful bit of info you'll want on your front page.

Aias 22:13, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

From the box art they've been showing it's just Games for Windows, not Games for Windows Live.--172.191.63.154 00:28, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

No Fighting on a Horse

Just watched an interview with Todd Howard he said that there will be no horseback combat in Skyrim its stated here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMm311tdzrg Fin Dova Feyn 01:45, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Dohvakiin

E3 Info

Shouldn't we start compiling data learned at E3 and add it to the article. For example, it says mounts are something that Bethesda are looking into. That should be changed because the E3 demo showed the character riding a horse.

Link in case you haven't seen it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic6dKnv3WdU POMC S117 10:25, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

The reason why the page has not been updated is because there is speculation as to whether you can ride more than just horses. So until it is confirmed the page article should stay the same. --Manic 10:40, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Well you cannot ride dragons stated here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsttJd-5L2k Fin Dova Feyn 06:23, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

Soul Gems

According to Strategy Informer (http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/elderscrollsvskyrim/previews.html), one of the items that showed up in the demo was a "weak soul gem." I didn't see it myself on any of the previews available online. I don't think it's any great surprise that soul trapping appears to be in the game (especially considering how Shouts are acquired...), but this is the first mention I've seen confirming them. Since some of the info from E3 is now making its way onto the front page, this might be worth a mention. Rusty 23:40, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

I've been looking forward to news on soul trapping. I think it's an interesting confirmation, especially considering Soul Trap was always a part of the now-removed Mysticism school. I'd support adding it to the article. --Legoless 23:55, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

How will we handle quests?

from what it sounds like from the interviews, The Radiant Story will make any quest occur in any dungeon. Since we won't be able to handle this like other TES games saying things like "go this way, there is loot here, there are enemies here, etc.," does anyone have any ideas on how to handle archiving all of this cohesively and easily comprehendable? SKADOOSHHH 09:14, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

From my understanding the Radiant Story does make quests more dynamic but Todd Howard said in one interview that every quest still has a basic template or story like for example saving a villagers child or something like that now what Radiant Story does is it just changes the location of the quest and the enemies you face so ya we might not be able to say where the loot is but we can still guide the player on finishing the quest (correct me if any of my information is wrong) Fin Dova Feyn 10:04, 11 June 2011 (UTC) ~
Take a look at some of the Daggerfall quest walkthroughs. "Radiant" quests in Skyrim will probably work like that. --Legoless 13:10, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Guilds and Factions

At E3 only three guilds were confirmed The Mages Guild (It has a new name), The Fighters Guild (The Companions) and The Thieves Guild. There is no mention of a guild of assassins. Does anyone know if there will be a guild of assassins or not? --Manic 09:32, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

I read somewhere that there will still be a Dark Brotherhood they are just not as prominent as they were in Oblivion Fin Dova Feyn 10:05, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
as far as i know there will be a dark brotherhood and your working with one of the last blades so there'll be the blades. also the mages guild is called the college of winter hold (Eddie the head 12:53, 11 June 2011 (UTC))

Dark Brotherhood has been confirmed at Quakecon.

stormcloaks were confirmed as a join able faction of the resistance

guardian stones

should the guardian stones be mentioned? there mentioned in this (Eddie the head 15:55, 11 June 2011 (UTC))

There's a picture of them here. If there's any more information, feel free to add it with a proper reference. --Legoless 15:59, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
I think they should from what I have seen so far they play a big role on helping the player become the kind of character they want to be Fin Dova Feyn 16:13, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Guardian stones

I'm not quite understanding the concept of it. I know that you don't choose your class like in in oblivion do these stones like change you from a warrior to a mage whenever you want to??— Unsigned comment by 203.45.24.109 (talk) at 04:12 on 12 June 2011 (UTC)

From what I understand, the game is unique in that you never have a set class (Mage, Thief, Warrior). Rather, you decide exactly who you are; the Guardian Stones only help push you along your preferred path. As an example (this is not official, only a theoretical example) the Warrior stone might, in theory, give you a stronger physique, while the Mage stone might give you a powerful elemental attack spell. Or a thief stone might give you an invisibility spell.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 04:28, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
no what they do is speed up the increase of the skills they govern for example: if you pick the warrior stone it makes your combat related skills (heavy armor Smithing ect) go up 30% faster and there might be more advanced versions of the stones as well (Eddie the head 04:32, 12 June 2011 (UTC))
My bad; I heard Todd wrong.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 04:46, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
The way Todd phrases it in the video, he implies that it's just these three stones that have those affects, and if you find other sets of standing stones (which might be called something other than "Guardian Stones" which is implied by "you have found the guardian stones") they have other bonuses. I'd say they might even count as POIs on the map. So i'm leaning towards it just being these three stones that have those specific bonuses and other sets around the world have other bonuses. Revoran 11:47, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
well i guess it is possible guess we'll find out in 11/11/11 (Eddie the head 12:09, 12 June 2011 (UTC))
The guardian stones are essentially the same as Specialisation from Oblivion (they make either combat, stealth or magic skills increase 30% faster) but you can change which stone to use as part of the whole "you are who you play" idea.79.97.40.245 19:58, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

hostile creatures

"Hostile creatures include mammoths, giant spiders, elk, trolls, ice wraiths, zombies, sabre-toothed cats, giants, wolves, skeletons and dragons." thats on the page but from what ive heard mammoths and giants are only hostile if you attack them first (Eddie the head 05:55, 12 June 2011 (UTC))

Thats what i heard too i think i will change it aroundSecret Chief 20:39, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

I just added info on Dragon shouts on your list I placed unrelenting force which is seen in the gameplay trailer (Fus Ro Dah) Fin Dova Feyn 03:59, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Blade/blunt

Will there be things such as Blunt and Blade or do they just count as one handed and Two handed Secret Chief 14:57, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Based on what we've seen so far, it looks like the skills will be divided between one-handed and two-handed weapons. It further sounds like at least some of the perks will be specific to particular weapon types. Those weapon types may not correspond precisely to the Blade/Blunt distinction from previous games (e.g., a given perk might only apply to maces, not axes, despite both formerly being covered by Blunt skill). We haven't seen much on the perks yet, although User:Revoran/Sandbox has a good summary on what was spotted in the E3 demo. Rusty 17:08, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
Thats right for example there is a perk for Blade that increases critical hit % and axes has a perk that adds bleeding (they get damaged over time) while maces has a perk that makes your mace attacks ignore the armor of the opponent (This is 100% info based on some interviews with Todd Howard and articles) Fin Dova Feyn 09:34, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

What about Mehrunes

Since martin destroyed Mehrunes and hes not in the mortal world anymore will they still have his Daedra shrine if anyone knows? 68.231.197.3 22:07, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

He wasn't destroyed. He was sent back to Oblivion. Daedric shrines haven't been confirmed for Skyrim, but if there are any there's no reason for him not to have one. --Legoless 22:12, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
There's one possible reason - it takes time for any Daedra to find their way back to form and substance once their body is destroyed, a short time when they're killed in Oblivion itself, but much longer if they're destroyed on Nirn. Does anyone know how long it took for him to restore his lands and self after Almalexia and the boys kicked his ass at the battle of Mournhold? If it was less than 200 years, he'll be back, but probably be trying to catch up on everything that's happened after the disaster in Imperial City. A funny thought - all those annoying scamps and dremora got tossed into the void when Mehrunes was killed, since it's his will that holds his realms together. When he got KO'ed, all those damn samey towers would just come apart. -- Anonymous 12:29, Friday June 17 2011 (UTC) — Unsigned comment by 71.142.254.125 (talk) at 01:37 on 17 June 2011
Dagon was banished to the Waters of Oblivion while in his own realm during the Imperial Simulacrum, which then disintegrated (during the events of Battlespire). If he was able to recover enough strength after only ~37 years to mount an all-out invasion of Mundus, I'm sure he will be back in time for Alduin's awakening. Whether he will actually play a part in it is up for speculation, which should be done on the forums. --Legoless 00:45, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
I think that the lore is clear that banishment of a Daedra who is within Oblivion is of much shorter duration than banishment when he is physically incorporated on Nirn, though. But you're right, while interesting, this is all just idle speculation. --— Unsigned comment by 71.142.254.125 (talk) at 03:06 on 17 June 2011

removed racism

i know that racism was mentioned somewhere i cant remember were and i dont know about the dwemmer ruins but the nords dislike the elves i know todd howard has mentioned that (Eddie the head 07:59, 16 June 2011 (UTC))

Sure that's very good. But no references = no mention. --SerCenKing Talk 08:07, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

"There will be racism and racial conflicts, mostly between Nords and Elves." [1]--Zar Pof 02:22, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Todd Howard mentioned it in one of his pre E3 interviews I think its the one where he had a conference or something in Utah before E3 Fin Dova Feyn 07:28, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
To be honest, this isn't really worth including anyway. Racism was present in Morrowind and (to a lesser extent) in Oblivion, so it's not really surprising that it's in Skyrim. The idea is not to list every little thing that anyone has said about the game or we'd have a page full of useless facts that would be far too long. We want the big stuff and the new stuff, not tiny facts. rpeh •TCE 07:59, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Well some facts are useless to others while some are not. He was just mentioning that there will be racism Fin Dova Feyn 11:09, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Yes, his gameplay video also mentioned that the flora of Skyrim is more detailed than ever before, but that's not worth including either. It's simply not worth including that "racism" will be included unless it forms an important part of gameplay. If certain quests are only offered to certain races, that would be worth mentioning, but a vague statement about racism is pretty pointless. rpeh •TCE 12:00, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Okay. Fin Dova Feyn 12:57, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=db-o_HrpC-0 Nords think men are the rightful rulers of Tamriel. About 8:55 is where it comes in. Seeing as it was almost core to the main plot in Morrowind (Dagoth Ur wanted you to join him as a dunmer or get out if you were anything else) I think its worth mentioning as it could be part of the split among Nords... Stouf761 00:35, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Nords don't think they are the rightful ruler of Tamriel they only think that they are the rulers of Skyrim since that region is the original home of man Fin Dova Feyn 00:41, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Actually, "...and they think they men, versus the elves (or the mer), men are the ones that should rule Tamriel... so some of that does come into play and some of that leads into quests" Stouf761 00:45, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Oh my bad bro. Fin Dova Feyn 00:48, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Its one of those lines that could easily be misheard... I think it will make for some interesting differences depedning on which race you choose, cause notice in Morrowind it was dunmer vs all whereas here its nords vs mer, meaning nords could care less about khajit/argonian/etc..

Release Date Worldwide?

I can't seem to find info on this subject but does anyone know if the release date of 11/11/11 is worldwide or North America or any other region? Fin Dova Feyn 15:32, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

That's quite a good side-by-side comparison and really shows how things have moved on since OB. The Pre-Release Content page will have any new images. rpeh •TCE 23:47, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
I know the level of detail is astonishing. Fin Dova Feyn 23:50, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Oh Rpeh on the topic of new images the Official Playstation Magazine July edition released some new screenshots that I have never seen before. I tried looking for them on the web but all I can find are low resolution images. Fin Dova Feyn 23:58, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Unless you can find a "legit" copy of the images, we can't host them due to copyright reasons. --Legoless 00:04, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
Oh there legit I have a copy of the magazine (if thats what you mean). And I am just mentioning them I have gone through your policies so I know the limitations. Fin Dova Feyn 00:13, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, bad wording. I meant images officially published on the web, not scans from a magazine. --Legoless 00:16, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
Hehe its alright. Ya I will keep an eye out for those pics. Fin Dova Feyn 00:19, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
If anyone wants too see the pics I am talking about its here http://darklythroughglass.blogspot.com/2011/06/skyrim-screenshots-playstation-magazine.html its very low quality so its not worth posting here but there amazing screenshots showing some new armor and some more Fin Dova Feyn 00:29, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

In some of the videos of the making of Skyrim on Elderscrolls.com there are pictures in the background of art drawings of Argonians but they aren't very easy to see. Also on Youtube there is a video called "Skyrim Dunmer" which shows a man named Arvel the Swift who is apparantly a Dark Elf but I'm not so sure if he is. The video also shows the fight against a Giant Spider if you haven't seen it already. Hope that helps.79.97.40.245 20:11, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Possible Return of the pauldron

I was looking at some screenshots and I noticed something interesting. New info on Radiant Story

I was digging for info and found some interesting facts. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/117/1176499p1.html Its a interview with Bruce Nesmith Lead Designer of Skyrim. Fin Dova Feyn 05:12, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

That video was cool it revealed lot of info especially not being able to ride dragons. Thanks for sharing it with the wiki man. Fin Dova Feyn 06:22, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

dwarven spheres

Is it true that we will see the dwarven spheres from morrowind in skyrim? Mrx42dena 6:43, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

I haven't come across info on that yet but when I do I'll inform you Fin Dova Feyn 23:55, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Yes, they're back. An animation for them was shown in one of the Game Informer videos ("Sounds of Skyrim" I think). --Legoless 00:14, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
I don't see why they shouldn't put them in since I heard rumors that thew will be bringing back Dwemer ruins but again these are just rumors (I'll inform you guys about new info if I find any) Fin Dova Feyn 00:22, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Once the stores start putting up deals....

I know the page is more for the game information than the commercial aspects of it, but it would be nice to include either here or possibly even on the home page a section regarding what game dealer is offering what deals for a preorder (i.e. Best Buy gives you a free strategy guide while gamestop gives $10 online store credit). Just a thought. — Unsigned comment by Stouf761 (talkcontribs) at 01:23 on 20 June 2011

Actually if you buy the 5th Anniversary edition of Oblivion you get a 10% discount for Skyrim and I think a free strategy guide (not sure on the strategy guide) Fin Dova Feyn 00:29, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
I don't think that's worth the effort. The RRP will likely be up, but a shopping guide seems quite pointless to me. --Legoless 02:23, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
I don't think doing merchandising here would be politically correct Ss4matador 19:39, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
I do not know what politics would have to do with it, but we will not be doing any advertising here for specific stores. --Brf 19:58, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Politically correct have nothing to do with politics, but with morale and ethics Ss4matador 00:20, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

No Horse Armor Joke?

I was watching a review video with the executive producer todd and they showed a clip of horse mounting and the interviewer said "the horse doesn't have any armor right now" -laughing starts up- and then todd says "it doesn't and insert all the jokes you want we'll sell it later for exhortation ..." what did they mean it seemed like they had a huge laugh about it like there was some big deal about the horse armor pack of oblivion. Were people making a big deal about the cost of horse armor in oblivion as an add on for such a little thing? — Unsigned comment by 72.39.123.186 (talk) at 03:06 on 21 June 2011

That's the joke. The DLC was so insignificant for the price they charged that it's become humorous. --Legoless 02:23, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

World

These lines, I feel are more or less worth mentioning, though they were a little cluttered the way they were before.

"Dwarven Ruins are back from Morrowind to add to the 100+ points of interest." "Todd Howard claims that there "are a lot more traps" in Skyrim."

Maybe we could incorporate them into the section more topically?

"The 150+ dungeons in the game were created by a team of eight, whereas Oblivion's dungeons were all created by one designer. Dungeons will also contain a lot more traps, according to Todd Howard. In addition, there will be more than 100 points of interest, including Dwarven Ruins."

We could put the racism bit with the NPC faces line, but I don't think that's as important. However, I foresee a great deal of time being talked about traps (what they do and where they are), and maybe even a few pages on Dwarven Ruins, since they'll essentially be dungeons if they work anything like they did in Morrowind. So I definitely think it's worth mentioning at least the traps, the points of interest, and the ruins. --Whyrainfalls 03:40, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Those bits were removed because they were unsourced. Feel free to restore anything you can provide sources for. --GKtalk2me 04:01, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Some more info on the Races

Todd Howard stated here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEidmpMluvM that your decision on what race you are gonna play as will affect the game in minor ways. He also stated more info about the Radiant Story. Fin Dova Feyn 12:55, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Known Skills

I'm not sure the list of skills on the page is correct, at least based on the source it's citing. Illusion isn't on the list, and it's definitely in the demo. Also, although interviews from Todd Howard and others have strongly hinted at both, I haven't yet seen Sneak or Speechcraft confirmed by in-game footage (unless one or both of them is briefly on the screen and I just can't make it out - entirely possible).

The skills that I've seen confirmed are the surviving five Schools (Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion, and Restoration) plus Enchanting (which I tentatively think make up the Mage line of skills); Archery, Block, Heavy Armor, One Handed, Two Handed, and Smithing (which I think are the Warrior line); and Light Armor and Alchemy plus four more (which I think will be the Thief line and will probably include Sneak and Speechcraft, and maybe Security and Mercantile). If anybody has sources for Sneak and Speechcraft (or any others, for that matter), they would be most welcome. Rusty 19:01, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Sneak is shown as an ability (which is means it is all but confirmed) in the 14 minute G4TV demo from E3 - he talked about sneaking for a couple of minutes in the recent Ausgamers interview and didn't say it wasn't a skill, but did talk at length about how it has changed in implementation and how it's more similar to F3's sneaking. The list is out of date yeah, I think they're holding back on editing information or creating pages till more info is known. Speechcraft I think was mentioned but i'm not 100% sure. Enchanting is under Magicka, Alchemy is now a Stealth skill (from the demo and also from a recent todd interview), Smithing is under Strength/Warrior skills. --User:Revoran

Speechcraft is now being called Speech and lock picking is one of the skills. It has been confirmed at Quakecon. http://www.youtube.com /watch?v=9ov2FTXRSxM The six stealth skills are light armor, alchemy, sneak, lockpicking, pickpockting, and speech

No. But you will need something else to save your games on if you dont have a hard drive. This is not the place to ask questions like this, go to the official forums. 115.70.37.245 19:18, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

the xbox can only use 16gb of the external hd, not it all, I have mine of 500gb and not able to use more than 16gb Ss4matador 03:09, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

fan interview

just found this http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1207390-skyrim-fan-interview/, maybe it's worth mentioning on the page?

I think it's worth mentioning. It reveals a lot of information about the game like the cuirass and greaves being combined into one item and having more armor types than in Oblivion and Morrowind and also being able to get married and also making armor from Dragon. Nice find here good job definitely worth mentioning. Fin Dova Feyn 09:55, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

List of confirmed skills.

Prehaps add something indicating that is 16 with 2 left to be confirmed so people don't have to count? --Deuxhero 02:49, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Fixed, but it made me notice something else. It's says in the first sentence of that paragraph that Oblivion had 21 skills, Skyrim will have 18, and 4 skills were removed. Something's wrong there. --GKtalk2me 03:12, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
yes i think it should say 3 were removed, i just counted the oblivion skills (Eddie the head 04:47, 15 July 2011 (UTC))
I think it means 4 were removed, and 1 is added (which is enchanting I think) ~ Dwarfmp 05:40, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
makes sense, should we mwntion that? (Eddie the head 05:48, 15 July 2011 (UTC))
The fact that we know the four skills that are gone shows why it is 4 removed and 1 added, that should have been a bit obvious... Blade and Blunt were combined and resplit to one and two handed, Marksman is Archery, Armorer is Smithing, Enchanting is returning (was not in Oblivion). The only two that are unnacounted for are Security and Mercantile. I'll add those in a new sentence.— Unsigned comment by Stouf761 (talkcontribs) at 17:58 on July 15 2011

spell effects

i dont really know it this can be answered but will spells be more realistic like fire spell charring an enemy or ice spell giving them a more frozen look — Unsigned comment by Ss4matador (talkcontribs)

fire spells set the enemy on fire and frost spells slow them down (Eddie the head 05:02, 16 July 2011 (UTC))
Spells also have effects on the texture for example when you get attacked by a frost dragon you can see your sword being frozen. Its shown here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic6dKnv3WdU Fin Dova Feyn 00:01, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Transformations?

Will Vampires and/or werewolves return? I would think vampires would given their appearences in Morrowind and Oblivion, but what about werewolves that didn't appear in Oblivion. I am dying to know if I can anticipate mauling people to death with my bare claws. And if so, will there be any major differences? Oblivionite 00:26, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Todd Howard said in an interview that they weren't going to reveal anything "yet" (quite a while back), but that they were definitely considering werewolves and vampires. --Legoless 00:48, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Vampires may be difficult because skyrim vampires can move through ice without breaking it, so unless vampirism makes you immune to frost or lets you fast travel from dunegons set under frozen lakes, vampires will be difficult. Werewolves on the otherhand, should be simple. Andil the mage 16:38, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean about moving through ice without breaking it, since none of the games so far have had destructible environment. And I don't know what you mean by "skyrim vampires". Are you getting confused with Ice Wraiths? Either way, I remember a interview where Todd Howard hinted, but didn't say explicitly, that they at least intended for both Werewolves and Vampires to be available. --Whyrainfalls 21:39, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
From the Lore:Vampire article: "The Volkihar vampires of eastern Skyrim live under haunted, frozen lakes and only leave their dens to feed. They have the power to freeze their victims with icy breath, and can reach through the ice of their frozen lake dens without breaking the ice." In the in-game book, "Immortal Blood" the Volkihar are referred to as the most powerful of the vampire clans. 69.133.53.63 23:46, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Oh, your probably right Andil the mage 11:16, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Hidden

Apologies for not including this on my previous section but, Shouldn't it also be mentioned that the word "hidden" is displayed under the sneak icon after you go from any degree of detection back to undetected? Which can be seen in the gameplay trailer. Oblivionite 23:05, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Not really. There's little point including every little detail from the videos and interviews. The article is already too long, and I'd prefer not to make it even longer. rpeh •TCE 07:55, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Stubs -- why not?

I believe it would be very appropriate to add new sections about obvious things. Examples:

Creatures
Quests
Places
Races
Nords
Skills

Is UESP becoming too much like Wikipedia? :(

PS. Maybe even go a step further and add Nords in the Races section. But, this is all just speculation! — Unsigned comment by 96.38.50.226 (talk) at 04:48 on 24 July 2011 (GMT)

There's no point in creating those stubs because there's nothing to go on them. We know the names of a couple of creatures, but nothing about them; nothing about quests; the names of a couple of places out of 160+; no details about the races and almost nothing about the skills. Creating stubs at this point would serve no purpose. rpeh •TCE 09:29, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

I saw those being uploaded on another wiki. Clairvoyance?

Not sure if anybody's picked up on this yet, i'm sure somebody here will know of it, a new spell called "clairvoyance"? well i saw it on a video ages ago so im sure everyone else has too but im pretty sure the only place the spells are noted are in a sandbox, cant remember whos which sandbox, sorry (Eddie the head 23:52, 26 July 2011 (UTC))
The sandbox your seeking is this: User:Revoran/Sandbox. On a side note, I think the Clairvoyance is a shout, if not then a simple spell/perk. I can't remember exactly what was said in the video.--Dro'Bakha 15:04, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Well the front page is for "Latest News", as far as most people would be concerned, a highly-anticipated Collector's Edition for one of the most highly-anticipated games of the year would be news. New Skill

I think it should be noted on the Skyrim page that Pickpocketing is now a skill. Stated here http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1217492-just-watched-the-skyrim-presentation-at-quakecon-part-2 Fin Dova Feyn 01:18, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

I already edited the Skyrim page. Fin Dova Feyn 01:20, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

The last skill remaining is Lockpicking

As seen in this video (removed) at around 11:55, you can see the last skill missing on this page, which is lockpicking. Also note that speechcraft is called speech.

You can also see some of the perks from the Two-Handed and One-Handed perk tree, which is just about doing more damage under certain circumstances.

edit: Oh and I'm not sure if this is pertinent for the article in general, but later on you can see in the video that Detect Life and Telekinesis are now Alteration spells (I was expecting it, but this confirms it). Also, it seems like Destruction is now all about elemental damage, since all of the spells are fireballs and ice bolts and stuff. But these elemental spells now have additional effects, as Todd explains, for instance some frost spell will slow an enemy and prevent him from doing power attacks. — Unsigned comment by 74.57.30.56 (talk) at 18:53 on 7 August 2011 (GMT)

Skyrim

Hi all

being a big fan of the elder scrolls i natrually am looking foward to skyrim. im just wondering if anyone knows anything about the game such as story line or has any pics of the towns. i have read the official xbox magazine and seen some pics of some of the beasts already but im just hoping that some one has some more goddies that they can share with me. Interesting Info

I found this site http://www.justpushstart.com/2011/08/13/new-skyrim-details-emerge/ the info given here is very interesting and should be mentioned on the page. For one it says in the article that there are other joinable factions like the Stormcloaks and Riverwood Tavern Warrior Clan, and that you can persuade an NPC to follow you and that you can have animal companions. It is also stated that there will be an Aurora Borealis, which will fit perfectly with the atmosphere of Skyrim. It is also stated that FAST TRAVEL WILL COST GOLD. And more just read the article. Fin Dova Feyn 03:40, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

We need a more reliable source than that. Elliot (talk) 03:49, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
Oh ok my bad hehe, when I find a more "reliable" source (IGN, Gamespot, The Elder Scrolls Official Site) then I'll post it. Fin Dova Feyn 04:09, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
Here I found a hopefully "reliable" enough source http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/elder-scrolls-v/1186740p1.html but it only confirms the Stormcloaks. It also has some very interesting gameplay and should be read. Fin Dova Feyn 04:38, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, that's better. Feel free to add the relevant points. Elliot (talk) 04:48, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
Where on the page can I put the info? The part were the guilds/factions are mentioned are no longer on the page. Fin Dova Feyn 05:23, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

new tweet

Q: I heard about the multiple quest [markers] but is there an option to turn these off? It would please alot of morrowind fans. A: you can turn off any markers you want. There isn’t a setting to do so though

Q: 1. Do you still have to sleep in a bed to level up? 2. Are kids killable in the game? A: no. No

Q: Are there subtitles in Skyrim for deaf gamers ? A: Yes, fully subtitled.

Q: Can you move objects in game because it seems my controllers buttons are taken? A: Yes, you can still move items in the world. Instead of clicking button to pickup item, hold it down to move

Q: Is there any form of regenerating health without any perks etc? A: Health, magicka, and stamina all regen slowly over time.

this got posted on the skyrim facebook page and they said it was a tweet but i dont have twitter so someone will have to verify it (From Fear to Eternity- Eddie The Head 12:32, 16 August 2011 (UTC))
I can't find it anywhere, I just checked @ElderScrolls. No idea where else it could be, but I don't even use twitter, so somebody else can check it out. Apparently it uses Steam too, what the hell does that mean for me? I've never used steam before, so if anybody can help me out, go ahead. 124.178.145.114 13:23, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Back again, just digging through Twitter I found this, holding breath for archers. This is also a link to a GameInformer article about Steamworks, including a link to the twitter post about it (which is also included in the cites on the article)... and there's a picture out there of a shaggy ass dog and an ugly looking Dunmer female. 124.178.145.114 13:31, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
I believe these were from Pete Hines twitter account. @DCDeacon

a question

I didn't know where to ask this (the internet is too big) so decided on here. Almost all the top gaming sites are full of "Skyrim won't use Games for Windows live". Does this mean anything significant for the not very technically minded player? — Unsigned comment by 78.84.57.186 (talk) on 20 August 2011

Not really. Games for Windows and Steamworks are (basically) two game distribution systems, and Bethesda has opted for the latter instead of the former. It's a notable announcement, though, because Fallout 3 was GfW, Fallout New Vegas was Steam, so it wasn't obvious which Skyrim would use. rpeh •TCE 11:52, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
they definitely made the right choice imo. GFWL was just so clunky in fallout 3. Hopefully there will be an option to merge retail copies of skyrim with steam. --Riandrake 13:20, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

TF2 Hat

A promotional offer (which has now ended) was offering a hat to Team Fortress 2 players who pre-ordered Skyrim on Steam. The hat, variously known as the "Dragonborn Helmet", "Tamrielic Relic" and "Skyrim's Iron Helmet", has an article over at the official Team Fortress wiki. I was wondering if we might document it as well - perhaps a section on a future Skyrim:Easter Eggs page or something - seeing as how it relates to TES. --Legoless 14:34, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't put it on an easter eggs page, since that page would list easter eggs in Skyrim (and not from other games I think). I think mentioning it on the helmet page would be better, although if it is listed as Oblivion helmets, it won't have its own page. Well anyway, it's worth mentioning somewhere in the future ~ Dwarfmp 14:41, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

consle commands for consle ?

i read somewhere (sorry i can't remember where) that there will be consle (sorry for misspell) commands on ps3 and xbox not just pc is this true or was i lied to? — Unsigned comment by 71.203.124.26 (talk) at 18:11 on 20 August 2011 (GMT)

well, the internet is a big place, and there are lots of honest and dishonest people out there, but its a safe bet that whoever said that was either lieing, or trying to look cool. It is also possible its true, as bethesda was looking into mods for consoles at one time. I personally hope whoever said that was right, though, because i play on xbox Qwertyone 02:47, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
its not really possible, console players have a lack of buttons, any way in this interview pete hines mentions its computer exclusive (From Fear to Eternity- Eddie The Head 04:28, 21 August 2011 (UTC))
it seems fairly possible if a low end computer can do it i think a ps3 could too mabye if its a issiue of no button to use you could press a button combo or use a keybord for it i really dont know i just hope its true — Unsigned comment by 71.203.124.26 (talk) at 07:27 on 24 August 2011 (UTC)
again i refer you to the interview i mentioned, its pc exclusive. (From Fear to Eternity- Eddie The Head 07:27, 24 August 2011 (UTC))

Skyrim NPCs

I very much look forward to contributing to the NPC pages of the Skyrim category. I'm sure many of the characters will take a while to discover. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say this here, but if anybody wants to work together to gather NPC info once the game is released, shoot me a friend request on Xbox Live. GT = broccollipie Broccollipie 13:16, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

I imagine we'll do the same, thorough job we usually do on NPCs. All help will be welcome! rpeh •TCE 13:40, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
I look forward to working with you, then. Broccollipie 00:19, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Wolf Elf?

Look at this image's name

http://elderscrolls.com/skyrim/media/screenshots/wolf-elf-male/

What is a Wolf Elf?— Unsigned comment by 60.240.157.31 (talk) at 08:52 on 22 August 2011 (UTC)

it could be a tyop for wood elf or a nickname for something, or just something in the url (From Fear to Eternity- Eddie The Head 08:52, 22 August 2011 (UTC))
Not looking like a typo, looks like werewolves return? I'm totally out of the loop, so that may already be confirmed. He looks as if he is covered in grey fur, maybe in werewolf form. Besides, that's a Dunmer.--Corevette789 22:30, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Agreed, especially given its not the only image named "Wolf Elf" (click "Prev"). However, its too soon to jump to conclusions; it could just be a named elf variety.
It's just a typo. Somebody pressed "f" instead of "d" and then auto-speller took over and changed "woof" to "wolf". It's definitely not a confirmation for werewolves. Also consider that it's a picture of a character created by journalists and I doubt they had time (only given 1 hour) to figure out how to turn into a werewolf (if indeed you can).
Well damn, Beth changed it to Wood Elf, I guess they're watching us. Not only because I want Werewolves back, but because I'm certain the character in that picture is a Dunmer, there may have been something there.--Corevette789 15:22, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
That character is confirmed to be a Wood Elf by the guy who created it from RipTen-- It is not a Dunmer. With the level of customization possible, it's not a stretch to assume with some toggling, a grayish Bosmer can be achieved with relative ease. I figure to guess the journalist just got a little happy with the sliders. In some now removed PAX footage, though, you can see that you no longer have RGB sliders for hair color, which have been replaced by a slider that cycles through preset colors. This may have extended to skin tone as well in their efforts to make races easily distinguishable. Wouldn't it be something if that limitation was added as a result of the confusion created by this Bosmer?Eximago 08:57, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Character Presets Released

As the title says, a series of images showing individual character presets for each race have been uploaded to the Elder Scrolls facebook page. 124.178.145.114 15:30, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Yup. I was uploading 'em as you were tying that. rpeh •TCE 15:41, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
Beautiful, were all the races included? I clicked through them all but can't remember if there were 10 or not. 124.178.145.114 15:45, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
Bretons and Altmer were missing from the blog post but not the Flickr page. rpeh •TCE 15:52, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Possibly vampires...

on the Elder Scroll's facebook page, they posted a link to a supposed review that includes vampires... but I guess they're getting A LOT of traffic.. so I can't get on right now. If anyone else is able to either now, or some other time when the traffic has calmed down a bit, please post any new info! SKADOOSHHH 00:23, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

Can't get the damn second page to load but looking at the comments he does in fact say that vampires will exist in-game.--Corevette789 00:31, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
EDIT: Yes, the *creatures* are confirmed, the disease, sadly, is not. I can't get the pictures to load but the text seems to be loading much quicker now. Great read, by the way.--Corevette789 00:44, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
yeah i see that now... now that its loading xD... but at least in previous games when there were vampires, if they got a chance to melee attack you, then you could contract the disease... and as far as I can tell from the article, they were only using magic against him. Hell, maybe with all these improvements there will be an epic vampire attack where they actually try to bite you instead of normal fighting suddenly infecting you! SKADOOSHHH 01:08, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
A twitter from Pete Hines confirms vampires. Should you for some reason not be able to become one in-game, vampirism exists, so it can be modded in ~ Dwarfmp 03:33, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

I'm sure you can be a Vampire as it would be a super-b**** slap to the face to fans if they put vamps in and not give you the ability to become one, i would like to see a page created for skyrim vampire and a picture if possible, obviously its too early to do much with it. Whats the news on werewolves? are they confirmed? 86.186.211.104 13:36, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

As of the moment, Bethesda hasn't shed any light on the werewolves topic Fin Dova Feyn 16:00, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

New PAX Info

I found a this interview with Matt Carofano Lead Artist of Skyrim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3A6-MHunso. It finally confirms that the player can become a vampire, it also reveals how you can look for a spouse and what your spouse can do for you. More importantly it sheds light on how the crime system works, when you commit a crime not all guards in the world will look for you instead only the guards in the Hold where you committed the crime will look for you so you can be wanted in one Hold but not another. Fin Dova Feyn 00:40, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

New Q&A

Here is a new Q&A which reveals some info http://nerdtrek.com/skyrim-answers-bethesda/ Fin Dova Feyn 04:40, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

I've wondered about this article myself, as it reveals two perk trees (Smithing and Pickpocketing) and whether those should somehow be included in the article. Of course, I'm new to this whole editing business, but I don't think this was a Wiki page at the time of Oblivion's release and development, so to my knowledge trying to collect information for a new game is largely unprecedented for us here. The point is, I wonder if we should start a new section to include more information about the new skills system, known perks and all, and other things separately. I feel like that would make creating their own pages come release time more simple. But again, I'm new to this period, so I apologize if I'm way off base here. -- Eximago 07:46, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

New Video

This video http://n4g.com/news/833398/new-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-footage from N4 shows brand new footage of npc's in riverwood. There are also two other videos showing some cool spell wielding and combat. Sorry about the yellow box. 79.97.40.245 17:43, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

"Update: The video was removed from the internet because of a copyright issue from Zenimax so it is now unviewable. Feel free to remove this section." 79.97.40.245 15:57, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

claw attack bonus?

I've heard somewhere that khajiit get a claw attack bonus when using hand to hand attacks, is there any truth to this? Andil the mage 17:53, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

I have only read about that on a forum and I think it was just somebody saying what they would like to see in the game. Although with the level of detail on every race it could be possible.

79.97.40.245 18:41, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

This 'apparently' was seen in a recent demo (a playable version at an event) this was then picked up on at the official forums (or this is were I saw it), no video or confirmation either way has been made by Bethesda as of yet, so who knows ? -- Thanks --KizC ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 19:14, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
Pete Hines tweeted something in response to a user saying that, as a Khajiit, this guy could have a spell in one hand and a "claw attack" in the other. The tweet can be read here.

apparently there is going to be a night mother in skyrim therefore we most likely have the return of the dark brotherhood. Characters other than Esbern are Mercer Fey and General. How come nobody mentioned this? --71.23.17.32 04:42, 31 August 2011 (UTC) unokitsune
