Clarifications/CorrectionsEdit

Corrected the location. Previously listed as a cavern west of Dawnstar (it is south-east of Dawnstar), I changed the reference city to Winterhold, because it seemed inappropriate to list the location in relationship to a city in a different Hold (looking it up on a map, for example, you wouldn't see it listed in The Pale). However, because it's so far from Winterhold, and because the city confusingly shares the name of the Hold, I also included Whiterun as a reference point. Additionally, I clarified "cavern" to "Nordic ruin." — Unsigned comment by 24.237.128.6 (talk) at 22:21 on 27 November 2011

Location is between Dawnstar and Winterhold directly but slightly closer to Dawnstar (60%/40%) — Unsigned comment by 120.38.85.56 (talk) at 07:07 on 18 December 2011

Glitches/BugsEdit

Glitch (Xbox 360): When I got to the end I could not learn the shout. I could hear the chanting and the "burning" sound effect but none of the words were lit up. I tried reloading and reentering the dungeon but nothing works. I couldn't find anything on this anywhere. Anybody else experience this? — Unsigned comment by 71.194.207.102 (talk) at 22:26 on 18 December 2011

Yes, I had the same problem, the sound of the wall is there, but I can't learn the sout. --88.181.4.221 19:21, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
I also had the same issue, I tried everything to learn the shout, to no avail — Unsigned comment by 88.181.4.221 (talk) at 14:13 on 12 October 2013 (GMT)
I added the bug. I don't think anything else needs to be done here. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 14:13, 12 October 2013 (GMT)

Glitch with resurrected bossEdit

(PC) When the boss was supposed to be resurrected, he was, but he was not hostile and he could not be interacted with. When I tried to kill him, it was as if he was just not there. All the dialogue went on as if he was dead, and not standing there upright. No side-effects, it seems. — Unsigned comment by 84.49.220.197 (talk) at 09:25 on 26 December 2011

Issue with Beem-JaEdit

(Xbox 360) Normally there is no issue with him, but after doing this dozens of times on my friend's consoles and my own, I can honestly say that if you rush into the Barrow without speaking to the pair, Beem-Ja will enter the dungeon nude, though otherwise no different from normal. I'm not sure what causes this, but I'm not going to say it's confirmed until someone else proves it. Seems to only happen on the 360. — Unsigned comment by 98.180.215.134 (talk) at 06:09 on 1 January 2012

Confirmed naked Beem-Ja! I'm playing on PS3 and had completed Ironbind Barrow with no issues or glitches, but my save got corrupted elsewhere and so I ended up re-doing several quests and dungeons, including this one. I ran straight past the pair into the barrow. About half-way through I heard voices and found the two of them waaay ahead of me - no idea how they got that far - fighting draugr. Salma was normal but Beem-Ja was stark naked. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the enchanted circlet he sometimes carries: if he has one, and equips it instead of his hooded robes, he will appear to be naked, so it's not technically a glitch. — Unsigned comment by Shadowyn77 (talkcontribs) at 11:30 on 15 March 2012

Dropping down to lower dungeonEdit

I am referring to "In the large room after the first Giant Frostbite Spider, if you walk up the stairs then come back on the left edge, sneak around the rock blocking you. You then drop down onto a small ledge and then walk into the rock wall. There you can fall into the lower dungeon." This doesn't seem to be possible in the newest PC patch as of 1-17-2012. There seems to be an invisible collider blocking the entire region. I could be trying in the wrong place, if it is actually referring to the ledge with the moonstone vein, but I didn't find any glitch there either. — Unsigned comment by 67.185.195.206 (talk) at 21:19 on 17 January 2012

-Update: I did find a way through this invisible collider but I still can't find a way to drop down. I recommend clearer directions to trigger this glitch. — Unsigned comment by 67.185.195.206 (talk) at 21:21 on 17 January 2012

Glitch exploits doesn't belong on the pages anyway, so it is now deleted. Please don't re-add it. Here is is for good measure:

Steel Battleaxe of Fiery SoulsEdit

When I entered the final room where Gathrik and the Word Wall were, this axe was floating in the air above the stairs going down to the exit area. It is dual enchanted with soul trap and fire damage. The treasure chest wasn't near it and had what I considered to be the right loot. Gathrik had a Staff of the Frost Atronach as a weapon. Any idea why it was there? Has anyone else had this happen? Lazar 05:12, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

the Steel Battleaxe of Firey Souls is supposed to be attached to the back of Gathrik's throne, not floating in the air. Probably just a glitch. The Firey Souls enchant, however, is not a dual enchantment in the strictest. It is considered a single enchantment, the axe can be disenchanted to learn this enchantment, and this is the only place in the game where that enchantment can be acquired. Kronos o 03:23, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
Note that the Firey Souls enchantment offers the only way that one can apply three enchantment effects to a single weapon (if you also have the Extra Effect perk on the Enchantment tree). 174.6.51.17 09:23, 7 May 2013 (GMT)
You can retrieve the battleaxe when the glitch causes it to float in the air by hitting it with a spell, which will cause it to fall to the ground.71.163.176.34 22:25, 13 September 2013 (GMT)

"Sorry for putting this question here(can't find a place to ask this) if I killed beemja and salma, is the dungeon spoilt?(can I still complete the dungeon)".

Triggering the Helmet TrapEdit

The article lists a bug that prevents the helmet trap from triggering without taking the helmet directly off of the pedestal (ie by hand). Can anyone confirm this? I seem to recall that I blasted the helmet off it's pedestal with an Icestorm with no problem. I'll try to test it soon if no one answers. 75.94.172.142 04:49, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

I myself, though not necessarily in this dungeon, have come across traps like this and have, through the course of combat, caused the triggering item to fly off the pedestal with an AoE spell and suffered no consequence from the trap. --Darkle ~ Talk 19:24, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
I shot the helmet off with an arrow without setting off the trap, but I don't think this is a bug. To me it seems this barrow was intended as a training level. It's short, you have two companions who basically narrate the level and kill everything for you, and there is an alternate way to open the door. I think the whole bit was a tutorial to get players to avoid the obvious trap, (and door trigger) and force them to look around for an alternate way to open the door.— Unsigned comment by 124.148.234.45 (talk) at 03:30 on 15 August 2012
I just triggered this trap by shooting the helmet off with an arrow. I actually hit it with another arrow from the side, first. Maybe the first one woke up the physics? — Unsigned comment by 50.131.127.86 (talk) at 03:50 on 5 November 2012

Beem-Ja's post action reportEdit

If you don't find Beem-Ja's body in the main room after defeating Warlord Gathrik and you exit by way of the pull chain gate, be certain to fast travel to the main entrance and as my favorite Orc, Rugdumph gro-Shurgak, would say "conversate" with him. Kalevala 21:21, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

NPCs essential or not?Edit

The article has two conflicting statements: First it says "they cannot be killed by the enemies in the barrow," but just after it says "If you wish to ensure they survive, it may be best to heed Salma's advice, 'Let's clear the place out first. Then we'll gather our loot.'"

I notice that the line about ensuring their survival was once edited for being a contradiction, but then reverted immediately on 3 March 2013. So is it important to protect these NPCs, or are they invincible to enemies in the barrow? — Unsigned comment by 99.65.186.242 (talk) at 23:55 on 23 November 2017

Looks like that's my mistake. Both of them are Protected, meaning only the player can kill them. Beem-Ja does lose this when he turns but that's after all the other enemies are dead. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 01:03, 24 November 2017 (UTC)
At least Salma is not essential or protected. My follower or some hostile killed her. Resurrected her when I found her way behind me and they both went back to their camp and was acting like they going to be rich and never been into the dungeon. Could not get the dialog to go inside and not able to regain them into dungeon. Finished the dungeon didnt care about them.
As I came out I could finalize the dungeon and do the final dialog with them. — Unsigned comment by 46.236.91.213 (talk) at 11:11 on 18 August 2018

mis-named lootEdit

I don't know if this is unique to Ironbind Barrow or just a general bug. When I looted the big chest near the Word Wall, there was an item with the name Orcish Armor of Major Stamina", but it's clearly a pair of boots. I even equipped them to make sure, it's boots. This is on PS3, Legendary Edition, no mods. - 24.222.180.41 01:53, 6 May 2019 (UTC)

Just a generic bug. If you search for the item you will find them alongside other misnamed of-Stamina items, such as Steel Armor, and Orcish Armor of Eminent and Extreme, all of which are indeed boots. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 02:10, 6 May 2019 (UTC)

Moved from Notes SectionEdit

Regarding the alleged helmet trap bug someone added:

  • "HELLO ! I do NOT have the patch, and i have shot the helmet both with an arrow and a Destruction Spell - Lightning Bolt, triggering both the trap and the door. I do not have mods either. Maybe that is the difference."

I'm moving it here in case anyone felt like investigating it/rewriting it so it meets site standards. ParadoxPraxis (talk) 20:47, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
