When spoken to prior to joining the guild, he can sign you up:
- "Honor to you and your house, sera. Have you come seeking membership in the Fighters Guild?"
- What can you tell me about the Fighters Guild?
- "Usually we'd be out pursuing various contracts. By Vivec, fighting the Reachmen along could fill out our purses for a year. But these days, we're all working one big job.
We've put all our considerable resources into destroying the Daedric Anchors. - Anchors?
- "Yes—you must have seen them. The enormous dark chains falling from the sky? They're rather hard to miss.
From what I'm told, they're coming straight out of Oblivion—Coldharbour to be more precise. Wherever they hit, Daedra pour out in droves." - Sounds serious. Are you recruiting right now?
- "Yes, of course. We have a number of vacancies to fill. I'm sure I needn't tell you that the danger is…considerable. Not all of our comrades were prepared for it.
But I'm sure you're more than capable. Interested?" - Yes. I'm ready to join.
- "First rate! Welcome to the guild, Associate.
Now the fun part. Seek out and slay as many Daedra as you can find. If you manage to break some of those anchors there'll be a reward and maybe even some special assignments waiting for you.

When spoken to after joining, he'll say:
