Oblivion talk:Pale Pass

Map LocationEdit

This area must be added to the map. Serpent's Trail does not open up untill the quest assoicated with it is activated. Therfor, it is difficult to get to without a map. --— Unsigned comment by 66.90.158.77 (talk) at 07:35 on 20 April 2007‎

Unfortunately, Pale Pass does not exist in the same world as the rest of Cyrodiil, so it would be impossible to determine where exactly it is in relation to the rest of the game world. (Much like Frostfire Glade - which is even weirder because it's in the middle of the map and not on the edge like Pale Pass.) Our map does show the location of Serpent's Trail, which should be enough. --TheRealLurlock Talk 10:03, 20 April 2007 (EDT)

In-game ScreenshotEdit

This page also needs an in-game screenshot to show what the area looks like. I'll see if I can get one when I get a chance... -- Oranl 15:54, 13 March 2008 (EDT)

You're right... but after a few really bad attempts at grabbing one myself I'll leave it to you. I'm adding a NeedsImage tag for the moment though. –RpehTCE 17:29, 13 March 2008 (EDT)

HistoryEdit

Hello, im looking for the History/Story of Pale Pass. You know, what happened to that Place, the Draconian Madstone...etc... — Unsigned comment by 85.139.13.152 (talk) at 23:29 on 11 September 2008‎

Where's my pointer?Edit

The little gold arrow that shows where I am on the local map keeps disappearing. It's happened elsewhere, but usually a quicksave followed by an immdiate quickload will fix it, but that doesn't work here. Any ideas on what causes it and a more dependable fix for it would be much appreciated.KaidaThyme (talk) 20:15, 18 November 2013 (GMT)

Missed this. See below. It's an engine bug, and, unlike the undead Akaviri, will not be put to rest any time soon.--Lmstearn (talk) 14:07, 28 April 2014 (GMT)

Pale Pass is an IslandEdit

If one cares for any climbing on the southern perimeter of the pass, they can access an area just below the tree at 12E00D where further east, there is an overhanging rock. The top of the ridge is attained, and jumping over the other side reveals large rectangular beaches (some with a bit of grass- why did they bother) and large square icy islands with tall, obelisk shaped rocks all surrounded by a vast watery expanse. Can't really call it an exploit, but as the bBorderRegionsEnabled=0 it was a little strange getting through. Above the entrance to the Serpent's Trail, for example, it appears one can scale the rocks above as well, but that the invisible barrier of bBorderRegionsEnabled=0 actually worked.--Lmstearn (talk) 15:24, 27 April 2014 (GMT)

If a worldspace has water, it continues underground. Outside the borders, there is no land, so you can see the water. The island effect is an unintended limitation of Oblivion's set water levels, and isn't even visible unless you edit the .ini. —Legoless (talk) 15:38, 27 April 2014 (GMT)
After traversing the "island", got back in WNW of the Serpents Mouth. It was actually much less effort to mount the high ridge at cell (1,4). But then had to be extra careful with game saves, since crossing in and out of various cells triggered a problem with the local terrain map marker (similar to the (3,3) bug). Traversing the area would randomly? reset the position of the map to (0,0) and the player's current positional arrow and other marked location points are wiped. Moving into another area they would re-appear and the map would function as intended. Another local map anomaly in the Pale Pass is a premature straight line end-of-map punctuated by a few protruding rocks or land features. This happens in one random direction on the map, so if the cutoff was North, the terrain is displayed in the other directions as expected.--Lmstearn (talk) 06:01, 28 April 2014 (GMT)
In fact, one can enter this watery "outer plane" from a number of points with a high enough acrobatics skill.--Lmstearn (talk) 14:08, 30 April 2014 (GMT)
