Oblivion talk:Imperial Legion Soldier

QuestionEdit

ya i was walking in the road and talked to one and he said somthing like: i've seen your kind around here , blood on your hands, keep your weapon sceethed or ill cut you down. and im NOT a vampire, i've only murdered 2 people( a begger, adoring fan) and both times no one saw me, no one knew. i dont get it!Saigemasterarrow 06:02, 25 May 2008 (EDT)

That specific line is reserved if the player is a murderer. It simply checks whether you have committed a murder or not, it doesn't matter if someone saw you doing it or not. --Timenn < talk > 06:07, 25 May 2008 (EDT)

Automatic Bounty?Edit

I'm pretty sure this is the case, but I haven't seen it documented on here. When you kill a guard, whether it be a city guard or imperial legion soldier, do you get an automatic murder bounty? Because even when I kill them instantly, in the middle of nowhere, I still get that bounty. Same goes for the Countess of Leyawiin (and I assume all the other nobility, too).

Is there a way to avoid it, or is it scripted. And i'm on PS3, so no mods can change it.— Unsigned comment by 58.107.134.43 (talk) at 02:12 on 31 August 2008‎

Yes, it's a script, the murder is given to you if you are the person who killed him. You can use the environment to kill him or poison to counter the script. As long as you don't land the final blow, you don't get a murder bounty. — Unsigned comment by 173.182.139.119 (talk) at 03:06 on 24 December 2010‎
Well, sort of. It is because ALL guards have a responsibility of 100, which means that even if they are killed stealthily - in one hit - undetected or not, you will always get a bounty Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 18:59, 7 August 2013 (GMT)

AsteriskEdit

There's a note on the page that says one guard never appears in game with an asterisk sign beside it, but none of the guards on the list above have an asterisk. Legoless 17:04, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

That should be the 000700C1 000700E2 Gottshaw Inn - Belletor's Folly guard. I added the asterick now. Bamspeedy 14:36, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Can't confirm this. While levelling up bit too fast with no appropriate armour/weaponry I usually followed guards, helping them with the occasional monsters (and looting their corpse - the monster's and the guard's). There is definitely a guard riding between Gottshaw and Belletor's. And he survived ;-) (German GOTY edition, vanilla/no mods) 31.18.83.140 08:23, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

Quotes?Edit

"Stop! You've violated the law! Pay the court a fine or serve you're sentence. You're stolen goods are now forfeit." — Unsigned comment by Sexydjole (talkcontribs) on 25 February 2010

That's a standard line for an Imperial (as in the race) guard. --SerCenKing Talk 22:32, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
"It's all over, lawbreaker! Your spree is at an end!" I was actually looking for a list of quotes from these guys. Disappointingly, I can't seem to find one anywhere. Krysee (talk) 15:15, 27 November 2012 (GMT)
There is a list of "Crime Dialogue" at the bottom of the Oblivion:City Guard article as well as a list of greetings, rumors, taunts, etc. at this link [1].

followersEdit

Shouldnt the guards from kvatch be added to the "postings" list? because, if they survive, after the quest they go to the chapel and stay there. this is just curiosity, but where is the "nowhere" guard found? Autinrox 18:49, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

I believe the 'postings' are the ones enabled from the start of the game. I would like to see the quest specific ones listed at least somewhere on this site.
The 'nowhere' one is only used in a test cell (guardconvotest) and should probably be erased from this page (along with the 'routes' one that isn't used). Or at least it would make more sense for the quest soldiers to be on this page than the test soldiers.
The soldier and guard lists were pulled from the construction set, and nobody bothered to go through and see if they all were actually used in the game. Bamspeedy 23:38, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, it should be in the glitches section but it isn'tEdit

I was going out of the Roxey Inn when a guard on horseback comes up and tries to arrest me, why(?) i don't know. Before he could get off his horse to kill me, i hit him with a poisoned Sufferthorn. Both he and the horse were paralyzed and the invisi-guard glitch happened. when i hit his body ( the real one) with the same effect, he got up this time. Going down the road towards a downwards hill ( well, it was a road not a hill) i hit him a 3rd time and then.....BOOM! Out of nowhere and i mean out of nowhere, he starts to melt! he actually melts (similar to Mehrunes Dagon) and when he got up,(he was alive still) he was normal. After that, I killed him, to which effect he then, melted once more. I actually found myself going from the Roxey Inn to the Fort down the hill, and around that area to find that he melted like soup all around. i also gathered up his melted pieces at one pile as best i could, and they actually resembled his former self in a way....... LukaSlayer13 20:51, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

This is not a Legion Soldier specific glitch. Although not common, it has the potential to happen to pretty much any NPC. --DKong27 Talk Cont 21:09, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Hit PointsEdit

What are their hit points and level rating and could someone put that in the article? I would assume they level with you, but you know the old adage about assuming. 99.59.12.173 00:44, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

In Oblivion, guards are always player level +10, with their own unique class build that emphasizes health. Honestly, why we don't send them to handle things ... Krysee (talk) 15:11, 27 November 2012 (GMT)

Death SentenceEdit

Don't the guards give you a death sentence if your infamy is high enough? They execute you by removing you of your armor and weapons, placing you in the Arena, and having five guards wielding bows shoot you with arrows, right? What happens if you manage to kill the guards, and is it even possible to kill them? — Unsigned comment by 100.1.242.88 (talk) at 12:42 on 25 November 2014 (GMT)

All of the effects of infamy are listed here. I don't think any scenario like this occurs in the game, as I've never seen it or heard it mentioned anywhere before. Are you maybe thinking of something added by mods? Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 19:12, 25 November 2014 (GMT)
I saw it on YouTube- look up Oblvion Death Sentence. — Unsigned comment by 184.220.10.246 (talk) at 02:38 on 27 November 2014‎
Echoing Thuum, this is not in the base game and likely was added by a mod. The gameplay of the video in question looks like it's modded as well, and a quick internet search for oblivion death sentence brings up pages discussing mods for this feature. Forfeit (talk) 03:09, 27 November 2014 (GMT)
