Oblivion talk:Absorb Magicka

[This question was moved here from Oblivion:Birthsigns]

Can someone please find the Restoration Level required for semi-high level Absorb Magicka spells will actually give instead of waste magicka? — Unsigned comment by D521 (talkcontribs)

That depends on the target's Resist Magic and the exact parameters of the spell. If you're not getting anything out of the built-in spells, consider making a custom spell with low magnitude but high duration, and on touch instead of on target. --66.23.133.52 23:46, 8 June 2007 (EDT)

Absorb Magicka vs. Absorb IntelligenceEdit

I've noticed that enchanting absorb magicka is obscenely more expensive per charge point than enchanting a much more powerful absorb Intelligence effect. does draining/absorbing intelligence lower your target's magicka the same way draining your own does? or is this similar in that respect to the drain endurance vs. drain health conundrum? Also, I'm not really sure this is the best place for this question but thought it should be asked.Reizl 17:10, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Oh Never mind i forgot that Absorb magicka works the same as a damage effect and Absorb attribute works as a drain effect, my mistake. — Unsigned comment by Reizl (talkcontribs) at 13:56 on September 2, 2011

Broken Enchantment?Edit

When making and using a dagger with this effect using a sigil stone, it looks like it actually does the opposite - the animation is around the enemy but, but looks identical to the animation for a restorative spell, and my magicka does not increase in the blue indicator bar. I tested this against an archer at Vilverin, who had not cast any spells, and so would not have already been depleted of magicka. I read somewhere, and I can't remember the source page but it was here at UESP, that this effect is thought to be broken and actually do the opposite - transferring your magicka to the target. This is a vague memory I have that was triggered only when I noticed the oddity of the animation. I have been away from Oblivion for a year playing ESO and all my mental files for this game are a little hazy. Can anyone shed some light on this? I wouldn't mention it except the page says nothing at all towards explaining or even mentioning it. Thanks! Crayolamanic (talk) 10:08, 6 March 2017 (UTC)

I also definitely remember how Absorb Magicka spells always had that healing light blue swirl animation on the enemy - the developers probably assigned this visual effect by mistake. But I think the spell still worked correctly, and the animation might have been fixed in some way by the UOP team. 111.228.22.214 18:41, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
