Tales From the Life of Aidon Strongheart, Vol IV
by Aidon Strongheart
An account of Aidon's meeting with the Amazon queen

And so I found myself caged, bereft of weaponry and gear. I might have been worse off, but one of the Amazons was thoughtful enough to have placed bolts of cloth in the cage, so I didn't have to sit bare on the rock floor. They gave me wine to drink, and boar's meat, and right soon I was stretched out across the cloth in a near drunken stupor. Every now and again I'd start to curse my fate, but even that was difficult when the women kept interrupting me!

It took me several days before I could begin planning my escape, although I did have cause for concern. I was barely able to keep up with their demands - although I must say, I managed admirably well. There were twelve of them, all fit and lovely, and they all wanted my personal attention. I was only too pleased to oblige - the more I knew of them, the better I could plan, of course. But even I was hard pressed to keep them all too distracted to kill me.

Then she appeared, and I knew that I had met a fearsome foe. She was tall, for a Redguard, and glorious, garbed in a jade necklace and her neatly braided hair. A lesser man might have quailed, fallen to his knees and begged for his life. For that necklace was none other than the Heart of Fury. Carved ages ago, from the green blood of the earth, the Heart of Fury ties its wearer to the earth itself. Yes, a lesser man might have quailed, for I knew that here before me was the Voice of Nature herself.

It was powerful, that necklace, granting the Queen enough health and stamina that I knew she would not go down easily. But I held firm! Hours, we wrestled, all night, and into the next day. Her warriors looked on, wanting to throw themselves into the fray, but the Voice was strong, and proud, and determined to finish me herself.

I could tell they were awed by my prowess, and knew that this would be the most daring feat I had ever accomplished, for once I had my way with their Queen, I would have to deal with each warrior as well.
