Razotha Tale-Teller was a renowned Orcish bard, historian, and storyteller of legendary status. She defied the conventional Orcish reliance on oral tradition by favoring the written word. Despite being acknowledged as the greatest storyteller of her age, Razotha sought a lasting legacy for her narratives. To ensure their enduring presence, she commissioned an Altmer wizard to enchant a black feather obtained from a hagraven, birthing the legendary Black Quill, a bardic writing instrument that supposedly prevented anything written down with it from being forgotten.[1][2][3]

Coldperch Cavern

Little is known of Razotha Tale-Teller's past. Her exact birth and life timeline remained shrouded in mystery, yet by 2E 582, she had achieved legendary status. Throughout her lifetime, she garnered widespread recognition and respect for her exceptional bardic abilities, ultimately earning the title of the greatest storyteller of her age. Seeking a lasting legacy for her narratives, Razotha commissioned a High Elf wizard to enchant a black feather sourced from a hagraven, giving rise to the renowned Black Quill.[1]

According to legend, any story penned with the Black Quill would perpetually resist fading into obscurity. Passing down this enchanted quill to her apprentice, Razotha ensured its journey through successive generations until both the quill and its final possessor disappeared near Coldperch Cavern—the very lair of the hagraven from which the black feather originated. The enchanted quill, fashioned from the hagraven's feather, carried the legendary claim that whatever it wrote would be remembered for eternity.[1]

By the year 2E 582, Razotha Tale-Teller's legend was widely known by the Orcs, and the fabled quill linked to her became a sought-after artifact for museum inquiries. Curator Umutha of the House of Orsimer Glories embarked on a quest to retrieve the enchanted quill. Through the endeavors of an adventurer hired by the curator, the quill was located near Coldperch Cavern and safely delivered to a museum for public exhibition.[2][3][4]
