Bug details?Edit

From the main article: "The quest may not start after the prerequisite quest. Storn will not commence dialogue and the quest will not be given." Good fact to note, but not terribly helpful in its current state, and needs more information. USKP doesn't seem to cover it (a quick google shows the issue is still pretty common). Is there a fix for this, or at least do we know why it happens? If it's a matter of rolling back the save, how far back do you go? (before finding Miraak's temple? Before entering Solstheim? Before the first cultist attack?)

Stolen Soul?Edit

Has anyone done this quest to and noticed that Miraak steals the dragon soul you're supposed to get from the dragon?--67.185.108.121 09:05, 11 December 2012 (GMT)

When i was playing the dragon would not land anywhere...Not even when hit with dragonrend. It just followed me everywhere, flying around...— Unsigned comment by 129.177.138.114 (talk) at 22:14 on 14 December 2012
I didn't absorb the soul because thew body was never destroyed the same happened with another dragon on Solstheim. Very strange. — Unsigned comment by 82.73.72.148 (talk) at 14:00 on 6 February 2013
Miraak is supposed to absorb dragon souls randomly during the main Dragonborn questline, but if you're playing on PC, you may have the issue explained in this discussion. — ABCface 17:59, 6 February 2013 (GMT)

Quest triggers stolen souls.Edit

As far as I can tell, the ending of this quest puts a trigger in place. The first time you kill a dragon after this quest is completed, Miraak steals the soul, and gives a bit of dialogue about your will not being powerful enough to take the dragon soul from him, which usually happens when you fight Krosulhah in The Gardener of Men. It's also possible the trigger is at the start of The Path of Knowledge. Can someone on PC take a look with the creation kit and figure it out? --Morrolan (talk) 15:39, 16 July 2013 (GMT)

Just so you know, or in case you forgot :), we created the Creation Kit Information Requests page for just this sort of thing. I'm sure it is on the watchlist for those who are good with the CK, and will in all likelihood get this question answered much faster. --Xyzzy Talk 17:29, 16 July 2013 (GMT)
Yeah, never heard of it before now. Thanks :) --Morrolan (talk) 18:27, 16 July 2013 (GMT)

Cleansing the stone before Storn asksEdit

Does the quest account for this? IF not in vanilla, then at least with UDBP? Vicano (talk) 10:31, 5 October 2014 (GMT)

Yes, it's accounted for. The quest will still begin after completing the Temple of Miraak, but it will only have a single objective, "Accompany Frea to Skaal Village". --Olaus (talk) 23:38, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Quest advancement glitchEdit

After cleansing the Wind Stone, I was able to one-shot the Lurker as soon as it spawned, and the quest got stuck on the "Defeat the Lurker" objective. Using the console to set the stage to 70 (where it should be after defeating the Lurker) didn't work; I had to set it all the way to 200 (finishing the quest). Has anyone else had this happen? That's definitely a new one on me. I'd be curious to know what happened if you reloaded (if that's even an option) and waited a second or two before killing it. It might just have been some kind of lag that caused it to miss the kill, so if you gave it time to "catch up" before killing the Lurker, everything might have worked as expected. Well, a year and a half later, I haven't been able to replicate the glitch after waiting a second or two to kill the Lurker. I don't remember what I did way back when (though leaving it as it was after I consoled it seems like a Thing I Would Do), but I'm guessing the glitch was indeed caused by killing the Lurker too quickly.--Shahrazad the Listener (talk) 04:58, 22 February 2020 (GMT)
