Tentacles cause no harmEdit

Don't know about whoever wrote that last remark, but if I idle in close proximity of the acidic pools for too long, I regularly get bitchslapped to Mundus and back by the tentacles. I'm sure it must be them, because there were no Seekers or Lurkers around when it happened. 93.45.126.67 15:29, 7 December 2012 (GMT)

Whether it was due to my very, very low level (6) or if it's an automatic thing, the tentacles, while they don't seem to cause "harm" in the strictest sense, get you sent straight back to Mundus in a single hit. Considering that death in Apocrypha does exactly the same thing, the tentacles seem to be even more "dangerous" in that sense than the denizens. --DaedalusMachina (talk) 14:07, 9 December 2012 (GMT)
What I think it's happening, is that they're basically one-shotting you. Could you temporarily lower the game difficulty and try again? My own experience at lev. 49, is that tentacles can deplete the player's health by quite a bit - assuming you actually get hit by them when they target you, which doesn't seem to happen all the time; either way I would not really think of them as "harmless". 93.45.126.67 16:13, 9 December 2012 (GMT)
Confirmed. They hit you pretty good and being killed simply takes you out of Aprocypha. It seems that they don't actually AIM at you, they hit one spot when triggered, so that would account for their seemingly poor accuracy. --DaedalusMachina (talk) 17:09, 9 December 2012 (GMT)
I play on master difficulty and have been hit by one of these, my health went way down but i did not lose all of my health and was sent back to solstheim after a few moments later. — Unsigned comment by 70.168.15.72 (talk) at 17:40 on 7 January 2013

DaedraEdit

I can't doubt Lurkers and Seekers are daedric, due to their servitude to Hermaeus Mora and their origin is from the Apocrypha. They're more on the same level of daedra like Hungers and Seducers. --Winch1990 (talk) 21:25, 7 December 2012 (GMT)

Console location codes wrongEdit

These are Location references, not cell names that can be COC'd to. I will try to update these in a few minutes. — Unsigned comment by Chesko (talkcontribs) at 18:07 on 6 February 2013

returned to nirn?Edit

where or what's a nirn? — Unsigned comment by 50.99.131.242 (talk) at 11:05 on 24 February 2013

Nirn is the planet on which the elder scrolls games take place. :) You can read more about Nirn here. Jeancey (talk) 18:07, 24 February 2013 (GMT)
I'd suggest for the sake of clarity that we change the references in these pages to "Solstheim" rather than "Nirn". It's accurate, first of all - you can't read the books outside of Solstheim. (If you do, it basically just tells you to go to Solstheim, rather than transporting you to Apocrypha.) And secondly, when you click on a book to leave Apocrypha, it explicitly says "Return to Solstheim". The word "Nirn" is almost never used in the game outside of a few books (with the exception of "Nirnroot"), and as such is unfamiliar to the average player. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 20:11, 21 March 2013 (GMT)
Added a line to clarify that the Black Books will only transport the user to Apocrypha if read in Solstheim; changed confusing Nirn reference to Solstheim instead. — Yopparai (talk) 22:03, 22 March 2014 (GMT)

SplitEdit

It's quite obvious from my sandbox that we'll need to split the areas into their own pages. The question is what to call them. They are all simply named Apocrypha, so my proposal is to name them after their book (e.g. "Apocrypha, Waking Dreams"). Any other ideas or suggestions? Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 14:02, 10 March 2013 (GMT)

While that's the best solution, that does create further confusion as we would have more pages with similar names. For example, we would now have a place page called Waking Dreams, a quest page named Waking Dreams, and a book page named Waking Dreams. While there aren't any obvious solutions besides this one that I see, it does make that a bit more complicated. If there was anything else to call them, I would almost certainly go with the alternative. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 14:28, 10 March 2013 (GMT)
Perhaps putting the book in brackets could avoid some confusion (e.g. Dragonborn:Apocrypha (Waking Dreams)). Or they could be named after the location where the book is found, since usually they function as an additional zone of the dungeon. —Legoless (talk) 14:45, 10 March 2013 (GMT)
No, that would be like calling Sovngarde an "extension" of Skuldafn; that doesn't really does it justice and, Lore-wise, it's incorrect. While it's true that it might cause some confusion, naming them after the book seems the best solution. Elakyn (talk) 15:14, 10 March 2013 (GMT)
Can we be agreed on the Dragonborn:Apocrypha (Waking Dreams) format? I have them all documented, just need to test what's random vs guaranteed. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:35, 10 March 2013 (GMT)

Now we need to figure out which console locations are which, and move them to the appropriate pages. That giant list of location codes on this page is nearly useless, since there's so many of them you can't tell which are which. I'd say remove it from this page entirely once we put them on the pages where they belong. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 02:32, 23 March 2013 (GMT)
The problem with the location codes is, that they don't really map to the places. I documented the codes on the place pages. But several are just interior cells, others are part of this worldspace, or even a mix between chapters. And not all codes listed here are used up in the process. I guess the leftover codes are associated with cells you can see from afar, or fly over when going to the Summit. --Alfwyn (talk) 21:58, 13 March 2014 (GMT)

Spell tomesEdit

It seems from the Skyrim spells page (it notes that only spell tomes from the original game should appear in random dungeon loot) and this page's link as well as the Dragonborn spells page's link on where to find spell tomes (both to the Skyrim spells page) that I should not be seeing any spell tomes from Dragonborn here, but I found a Summon Ash Spawn tome after completing the quest that makes it available to purchase. I was using the Black Book inside Tel Mithryn, but it still seemed both odd and convenient that it appeared in Apocrypha; and possibly before it would have been available for sale from the apprentice (his inventory may not have reset quite yet). Was it meant to be implied that Dragonborn tomes could show up too?--Playerseekingbugs (talk) 07:18, 7 April 2013 (GMT)

DawnguardEdit

I'm playing this with Dawnguard and I blocked out the sun before I took Waking Dreams to Apocrypha and the blocked sun "came with me". Now if I look in the sky I can see it, but I don't think the sun is typically there. 130.184.79.91 19:14, 18 April 2013 (GMT)

SortingEdit

This is probably the wrong place to bring this up, but I don't know where the right place is. I'd like to put my vote in for sorting lists in the order that they're sorted in the game. In the game, The Winds of Change comes before Untold Legends, because The comes before Untold. I get that the way the game sorts things is computer convenience rather than traditional alphabetizing for titles, but trying to match the UESP lists against what I see in the game would be a lot easier if they were sorted the same way, and we don't have much control over how things are sorted in the game, so that leaves sorting UESP to match the game. Fatal BugEdit

There is a literally fatal bug in Apocrypha in which returning to Solstheim from an area of Apocrypha that has poisonous shadows can cause that effect to trigger and kill the character. Once this effect triggers in Solstheim, there is no way to stop the effect and save the character; the game must be reloaded from a previous save. Why is there no mention of such a serious bug on the Apocrypha page or on any of the pages for the different Black Book areas? Valeria (talk) 18:55, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

There are many of these one-off bugs that exist that are not documented due to the low numbers of occurrences. I had a bug with the slow-time perk for block where it was permanent. I had to quit the game and go back to an earlier save to fix it. 162.251.184.125
